In addition, Kieu Duc Hung was found to have stored 37 grams of banned substances at his residence, showing his creep into the corners of society. Notably, two sisters Le Thi Tuyet Nhi and Vo Nguyen Thuy Vy, who played the role of retailing hallucinogens in significant quantities, were identified as 7.7 kg. Sophisticated tricks are also reflected in collecting goods from many different points, using disposable phones, and asking intermediaries to go through many stages to bring them to customers. These measures show the careful calculation of the crime in order to disrupt the investigation and avoid being traced.

The most special feature of this case is the application of the Law Amending the Criminal Code 2025, which officially takes effect from 0:00 on July 1, 2025. Under the new law, the penalty of exclusion from society for the crime of "illegal transportation of prohibited substances" has been abolished. The transitional provisions of the law allow for the application of provisions in favor of the defendant, even for cases that occurred before the effective date of the law but were tried afterwards.

Thanks to this provision, Le Nguyen Anh Tuan, Tran Minh Phu, Ha Thi Kim Tham, and Kieu Duc Hung, although initially able to face the heaviest sentence or life imprisonment, escaped the death penalty and received life sentences in the final sentence. Particularly, Le Thi Tuyet Nhi and Vo Nguyen Thuy Vy also received sentences with a term lower than the highest level according to the old regulations.

The abolition of the heavy penalty of "exclusion from society" for the crime of transporting prohibited goods has created a wide debate in society. The new policy perspective represents a shift towards humanitarianism and rehabilitation, reduces the pressure on prisons and is in line with the general trend of many countries around the world. However, many expressed concern that this could facilitate more "aggressive" activities.

Finally, the case with the participation of Le Nguyen Anh Tuan and his accomplices can be considered a historical turning point in the application of the new Humane Criminal Code in Vietnam.
