According to VNexpress, on November 12, according to the trial plan, the representative of the Supreme People's Procuracy will express his opinion on resolving the appeal of Ms. Truong My Lan and 47 others. However, the prosecution agency believes that there are still some issues that need to be clarified to resolve the case objectively and comprehensively, so it requests that the panel of judges resume the questioning session.

The representative of the People's Procuracy then asked Ms. Lan to respond about the plan to implement the "commitment to pay back the entire amount of money the State Bank lent to SCB to maintain operations" and remedy the consequences of the case.

The chairwoman of Van Thinh Phat said that the first instance verdict forced her to pay 677,000 billion VND in compensation, after deducting some loans that were paid off after the time of prosecution, she still had to pay back more than 673,000 billion VND. Regarding the plan to compensate for the damage, Ms. Lan said: "The defendant committed that the 1,121 assets mortgaged to SCB were enough to ensure the compensation of the consequences of the case."

Regarding the source of money, defendant Lan said it was taken from debtors who had paid (21,000 billion VND), 5,000 billion VND was transferred to SCB Bank to increase charter capital and 658 asset codes are currently not mortgaged for any loans.

Defendant Lan also requested the People's Court to require SCB Bank to return project 6A (Binh Chanh) so she can take it to remedy the consequences.

According to VietNamNet, at the court, the representative of SCB Bank admitted that the 6A project is not currently used to secure any loans from defendant Truong My Lan or Van Thinh Phat Group. Regarding the 5,000 billion VND that defendant Lan paid to increase charter capital, the representative of SCB Bank said that they will respond to the panel of judges in writing.

Regarding the origin of project 6A, in response to the People's Court, defendant Truong My Lan said that this project is 26 hectares wide, has belonged to Van Thinh Phat Group for more than ten years and has been almost completely compensated, with only 3-4% remaining uncompensated.

"The defendant did not want to cut it up to sell because this Trung Son area is very beautiful, and legally it is almost finished. Many businesses wanted to transfer this project for 60,000 billion VND, but the defendant did not agree. By the time the defendant was about to be arrested, some businesses continued to offer to transfer it back to them for 40,000 billion VND" - defendant Lan said.

Defendant Lan affirmed that project 6A has absolutely nothing to do with SCB Bank and proposed to use this project to import 658 assets to remedy the consequences.

In addition, defendant Lan said that among the 658 voluntary asset codes used to remedy the consequences, there were the Saigon Port project and the "super project" Amigo. According to the defendant, if those assets were developed at the right time and in a timely manner, they would bring in no less than 200,000 billion VND.

When the representative of the People's Procuracy asked about the 440 asset codes (among 1,121 asset codes being seized) that on the books had a value of about 620,000 billion VND but in reality, how much was it, Ms. Lan replied: "According to the defendant's experience, it is over 100,000 billion VND".

Regarding the new mitigating circumstances, in addition to her many contributions to charity work, Ms. Lan said that recently there have been 2,000 petitions from the people and the Chinese Association in Ho Chi Minh City asking for a lighter sentence for the defendant. Therefore, defendant Lan hopes that the panel of judges will consider granting her leniency.

After many hours of work, the representative of the People's Procuracy stated that the interrogation process had brought up many new details and needed time to accurately re-evaluate them, from which there would be a basis for proposing whether or not to accept the appeals of the defendants and related parties. Therefore, the People's Procuracy requested to stop the trial to study and evaluate the evidence.

The panel of judges agreed with the request of the prosecutor. The trial will continue on November 15.
