The case of a volunteer in Yen Bai who died due to a capsized rescue boat: Heartbreaking words from a daughter about her father

Regarding the incident of a volunteer who died after his boat capsized while providing relief in Yen Bai, at the funeral, family members could not hide their grief. In particular, the daughter's heartbreaking words about her father made everyone choke up.

Previously, at around 9:00 a.m. on September 10, a rescue team of 5 people from Yen Binh district (Yen Bai) went to the flooded area on Le Hong Phong street, Nguyen Thai Hoc ward, Yen Bai city to rescue when their boat suddenly capsized.

Due to the strong current, the boat carrying 5 people crashed into the garage door causing the boat to capsize. The incident caused all 5 people to fall into the water about 2m deep.

One person was crushed into the water by the capsized boat and died, another person was injured. The unfortunate person was identified as Mr. NHT, residing in Yen Binh town, Yen Binh district. At 8:00 a.m. on September 11, Mr. NHT was found near the location where the boat capsized.

By the afternoon of September 11, the authorities of Nguyen Thai Hoc ward, Yen Bai city handed over Mr. T. to his family to arrange the funeral.

The leader of Nguyen Thai Hoc ward added that this was a very heartbreaking incident. The relief team above has a lot of experience in carrying out relief work, they have been in Yen Bai city for relief work for 3-4 days now. Due to encountering strong currents, the tragic incident occurred.

On September 12, his family held a funeral for him. Neighbors, organizations, and many union members and volunteers came to see him off to his final resting place.

It is known that his family has two daughters, the eldest is in his final year of university, and the youngest is currently in 6th grade. The whole family lives by fishing on Thac Ba Lake, Mr. T. fishes, and Ms. Nguyen Nhu Quynh (Mr. T.'s wife) sells at the market. Their life is extremely difficult, surrounded by difficulties.

They got married in 2002 but their income was unstable. It wasn't until 2006 that they were able to build a house and it wasn't until 2014 that they were able to renovate it.

Now, Ms. Quynh still cannot believe that her husband has gone forever, tears keep falling, she choked up and confided to PV Tien Phong: "He was a very good swimmer...". After many years of swimming in the lake, Mr. Thi was a good swimmer and had a lot of experience, but this time he did not survive.

"That day, the flood water rose high, many houses in the city were isolated. Seeing people going to help, he kept asking to join in distributing relief goods to people. When he left the house, he didn't say anything for a while before calling to say he was going to help," Ms. Quynh recalled when sharing with the above newspaper.

The couple's eldest daughter, Nguyen Khanh Linh, 21 years old, cried beside her father's coffin. On the afternoon of her father's death, Linh was in Hanoi and rushed home as soon as she heard the news. "Dad said he was going to do relief work but he never came back. When he died, he didn't even have lunch," Linh choked up as she told Giao Thong Newspaper.

When asked about her future plans, Quynh and her three children seemed to be pushed into an uncertain space. She could only shake her head, not knowing how the three of them would continue to live.

"I just hope that Khanh Linh, my eldest daughter, after graduating from the University of Natural Resources and Environment, can soon find a job to help her mother raise her younger sibling," Ms. Quynh said sadly to the above newspaper.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3, Yen Bai province has had moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain. Many localities have experienced flash floods and landslides, causing heavy damage to people and property. Up to now, 53 people have died, 36 people have been injured and 01 person is missing; 25,000 houses have been affected, of which hundreds have completely collapsed; more than 5,000 hectares of crops have been affected and damaged...; estimated damage according to preliminary statistics up to this point is more than 1,200 billion VND.
