In recent days, at a time when the North is experiencing thousands of sorrows and losses of both people and property due to natural disasters, people all over the country and abroad are also turning their hearts to this place with the most sincere feelings.
In order to join hands to support localities to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, with the spirit of mutual love and support for people in flood-affected areas, the "One Heart" Fund was launched by Ho Chi Minh City Television with the message "One Heart - For the beloved Northern people" with the hope of receiving attention and support from organizations, businesses and individuals through financial support to help people in areas affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi) overcome the storm and flood, quickly overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.
Moved and heartbroken by the damage caused by storms and floods to her fellow countrymen, on September 19, Ms. Le Thi Lai (Dong Nai province) and her mother traveled 2 hours by car from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City to donate 50 million VND to people in the North. It is known that this is the amount of money that she and her mother have worked hard to save, but they are still willing to take out to share the pain with their fellow countrymen in difficulty.
Ms. Lai could not help but choke up as she shared: My emotions were overflowing when I was able to help society, help my fellow countrymen who were suffering from natural disasters and floods, I was so happy. It was just a small amount of money. For me, my heart was bigger. I just wanted to give it directly to those affected by the floods.
Along with that, she also carried a letter with extremely touching lines:
"I would like to thank the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) for always supporting people during this flood. Thank you to the armed forces for always helping people. When I wrote this letter to the VFF, I cried a lot when I saw the flood. I was very proud to be a Vietnamese person, united and supporting each other in difficult times."
Ms. Lai's story has moved many people and made them appreciate her heart that always turns towards her fellow countrymen.
Although the consequences of the storm and flood have left behind many inconsolable losses, every day across the S-shaped strip of land, millions of hearts and kind-heartedness are recorded, all turning towards our compatriots in the North. Many heartwarming stories of mutual love and support have been spread throughout social networks.
Although it is the poorest hamlet in Tan Lam Huong commune, Thach Ha district (Ha Tinh), the households here have donated more than 50 million VND to the people of the North. The actions of the households here have moved many people, because this action "is not showing off, but they have suffered the same fate as the North".
On her personal Facebook page, Huong Nhu shared that Son Trinh is a poor hamlet located along the Ngan Mo River, in the old Thach Lam commune, now Tan Lam Huong commune. Here, the people are the hardest-working in the commune, working hard all year round. In October 2020, Son Trinh was the hamlet that suffered the most severe consequences. After the flood, the people struggled to overcome the consequences. Perhaps, because of that, they felt the pain of loss.
"During the flood that year, the whole country turned to them to "hold their hands" and overcome the hardship, so they understood the pain. So today, when hearing the news that the North was struggling with the terrible flood, the people of Son Trinh voluntarily supported without being told. Looking at the list of supporters, I was startled and rubbed my eyes, thinking I had read the wrong number. They are not showing off, showing off, nor are they rich, but they themselves were in the same situation as their fellow countrymen in the North, so they understand the pain," the information posted on social media.
In particular, the accompanying image of the support list shows that most households in Son Trinh village donated from 500 thousand VND or more, of which, some people donated 1 million VND. After the status line and image of the support list were posted on social networks, many people expressed their emotions at the kindness of the poor people in the neighborhood.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ninh, Chairman of Tan Lam Huong Commune People's Committee, confirmed the above information and said that Son Trinh is the poorest hamlet in the commune, but the support for the people in the North has been carried out very well. Son Trinh hamlet has 92 households but the total amount of contributions is up to nearly 52 million VND. This amount has been transferred to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thach Ha district.
"People donated from 500,000 VND or more. There were even elderly people living alone who brought 200,000 VND to contribute. Therefore, everyone was touched and grateful for the sentiment towards their fellow countrymen," said Mr. Ninh.
