Recently, when storm number 3 passed and caused many people to suffer heavy losses, Ung Hoang Phuc and his wife, former model Kim Cuong, went to the North to give relief gifts.
However, the actions of the male singer and his wife have caused many controversial opinions on social networks. Recently, Ung Hoang Phuc posted on his personal page and quickly received special attention from many audiences. Specifically, the male singer expressed his admiration and sent his best wishes to his two colleagues, Tuan Hung and Duy Manh: "Congratulations on the resounding success of Tuan Hung and Duy Manh's show."
Below the post, many viewers left comments expressing their agreement with Ung Hoang Phuc about the successful performance of the two famous male singers and contributed 3 billion VND to the relief fund for people affected by the storm.
In addition, many people also suggested that Ung Hoang Phuc organize a music night in Ho Chi Minh City, which promises to receive a large audience's support. In response, the male singer said: "If there is enough fate, Phuc will perform a live show in Ho Chi Minh City, when that happens, remember to buy tickets to support Phuc."
Previously, when the whole country was focusing on supporting the victims of storm YAGI, mainly in the northern mountainous provinces, Ung Hoang Phuc and his team chose Phuc Tan ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi as the charity address. He was accused of "pretending" and "making a scene". But there were also people who spoke up to defend him.
At first glance, the images posted on social media are strange. Instead of photos directly giving gifts to poor households, the singer and his crew are seen sitting on a boat, while the surrounding people are wading in water, some up to their knees. Not to mention, he is dressed quite smartly.
Later, the person accompanying the singer explained that Phuc only had the clothes he needed to go to the airport, so he couldn't wade through the water. The boat was arranged by the neighborhood association.
Many articles satirized Ung Hoang Phuc's image and actions, saying that he went to "provide flood relief for the rich" and "was led by the nose to do charity work in the wrong place". He also spoke up to affirm that his and his friends' program aimed at poor households in especially difficult circumstances across the country had been planned before the storm.
Wherever the group goes, they contact local authorities to get information about households and individuals who need help. After the first round of support for the poor at the foot of Long Bien Bridge, he will go to the Northwestern provinces (Yen Bai, Lao Cai...) to continue the program.
In fact, not all Hanoi and Hoan Kiem - where each meter of land can cost up to billions - are rich. Journalist Dinh Hien spoke up to defend Ung Hoang Phuc and said that the area where Phuc and his wife do charity work has many ordinary laborers, from the provinces who rent houses, living around the area under the bridge, doing all kinds of jobs, from Long Bien market porters to shoe shiners and street vendors.
"I have been to filthy, cramped boarding houses where each person's sleeping space is only a 75cm individual mat, stacked like sardines. After a hard day's work, they return home and sleep like the dead, even though there is no air conditioning or even a fan," journalist Dinh Hien said.
Journalist Pham Gia Hien posted a photo he took a few days ago at Tan Ap border gate (Ba Dinh district). It shows people coming to get supplies at a food and water distribution station to support people affected by flooding outside the dike.
There are tens of thousands of people in the area that Hanoians call "outside the yard". "Many of them do not have identification papers, do not have stable jobs, earn a living by doing all kinds of odd jobs, and do not have savings for protection. They are the fragmented pieces of the urban landscape, a vulnerable group with few opportunities to speak up. Even though they live in Hoan Kiem district," he said.
The reality is that in times of floods or epidemics, no matter how much money you have, you still cannot buy food. At that time, rich or poor, everyone is hungry. Therefore, there is an opinion that even if a family is well-off and is given a box of instant noodles, they should happily accept it and instead of posting negative comments, give it to someone who needs it more than themselves.
But it seems that those who slander Ung Hoang Phuc just want to show off their sense of humor to get likes. Because as the singer said, he also verified the really difficult circumstances before giving gifts. It's just that the image is a bit inappropriate.
