On the morning of July 12, Quy carefully prepared for his crime by buying a sharp knife. Then, he drove his motorbike from Binh Duc commune (Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province) straight to Long An ward, looking for "prey". At around 3:00 p.m. the same day, Quy stopped by a coffee shop along National Highway 1, owned by Ms. NTB, pretending to be a customer to drink water.

When he discovered that Mrs. B. was the only one doing business in the shop, and no one else, Quy's cold-blooded nature took over. He pretended to go to the back of the shop to use the restroom, taking advantage of the moment when the female owner was off guard, then suddenly used a knife to stab Mrs. B. many times, causing her to die on the spot. After committing the brutal crime, Quy coldly carried out the robbery. He took off the earrings the female coffee shop owner was wearing, then went to the counter to search for property, took a mobile phone and surprisingly only 32,000 VND in cash. After that, he quickly fled the scene by motorbike, leaving behind a bloody scene and extreme pain for the victim's family.

At around 5pm on July 12, Mr. S. was shocked to discover that his wife, Mrs. B., had died at the restaurant, with many injuries, especially a fatal wound to the neck.
