The case of a female grocery store owner being murdered in broad daylight in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province on the afternoon of June 19 shocked public opinion. At the police station, the suspect confessed to all her actions.
On June 21, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province Police continued to investigate and take statements from suspect Nguyen Minh Phuc (30 years old, from Can Tho City, temporarily residing in Nhon Trach District) to consolidate the case file on the act of depriving a person of life and robbery. Phuc's initial statements revealed a terrifying series of events, from the motive for the crime to the lightning-fast escape, showing the recklessness and calculation of the subject.
Family conflicts lead to the intention of killing and robbing property
According to initial information from the investigation agency, Nguyen Minh Phuc is currently renting a room in Long Tho commune (Nhon Trach district) and lives with his wife and children. Family life seems to be the cause of his crime. Phuc confessed that on the afternoon of June 19, after arguing with his wife, he took his motorbike and left the house, heading to Long Thanh district and then to Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
On the way, while wandering, Phuc suddenly had the idea of robbing property. He stopped on the side of the road, bought a sharp object from a street vendor, and prepared for his crime. This detail shows that the intention of robbery was quickly hatched in the suspect's mind, only after a personal conflict.
Grocery store scene and the suspect's shocking testimony
At around 3:30 p.m. the same day, Nguyen Minh Phuc drove his motorbike to the TH grocery store in Long Phuoc commune, Long Thanh district. Observing that Ms. LLTC (59 years old) - the female owner - was alone in the store, Phuc pretended to be a customer to approach her.
After taking advantage of the victim's lack of vigilance, Phuc suddenly used a sharp object to control Ms. C. to rob her. In the end, the suspect took 1.5 million VND. In his chilling testimony, Phuc said: "After robbing the money, the woman shouted: 'Robbery! Robbery! Robbery!'. I restrained her and said: 'Just the money, don't scream'. But she didn't listen, so I dragged her inside. She continued to resist and scream, so she panicked, I used a sharp object to hit her many times...".
The escape and the attempt to cover up the traces
After committing the crime and seeing the victim lying motionless, Nguyen Minh Phuc quickly left the scene, got on a motorbike and fled towards Cat Lai ferry to return to Ho Chi Minh City. On the way to escape, Phuc noticed that his clothes had many stains, which could make him easily detected. To hide his crime and destroy traces, Phuc stopped at a roadside shop and bought new clothes, including a T-shirt, trousers and a jacket.
When he arrived at the center of Nhon Trach district, Phuc stopped and quickly changed his clothes. He carefully packed his old jacket and T-shirt into the trunk of his motorbike, intending to destroy them. After that, Phuc continued driving his motorbike towards Ho Chi Minh City, hoping to successfully escape. He drove to Cau Ong Lanh ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, where he was arrested by the police.
