Fire at the old wooden materials yard behind people's houses on Pham The Hien Street (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City).

At the meeting, the representative of the general investigation team - District 8 Police said that through scene examination, the authorities determined that the fire originated from an old wood warehouse. Both fire wood warehouses do not have operating licenses. Therefore, the preliminary cause of the fire is likely due to a short circuit in the electrical wire in the wood warehouse.

According to District 8 Police, collected documents show that the incident shows signs of violating fire prevention and fighting regulations. The police investigation agency of District 8 Police has issued a decision to assign an investigation organization to clarify and will specifically handle the violation according to the law.

Regarding existence, the representative of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of District 8 Police said that the internal walkways between old wood storage areas are narrow, from 0.4 - 0.6m. Alley 124 Pham The Hien is only 2.5 - 3m wide, so fire trucks cannot reach the fire. The fire occurred at night, so firefighting was difficult.

Speaking at the meeting, Colonel Huynh Quang Tam, Head of PC07, said that this was a large and complicated fire. However, the firefighting forces promptly extinguished the fire, prevented it from spreading around, minimized property damage and did not cause any loss of life.

According to Mr. Tam, District 8 Police, People's Committee, and Ward 2 Police were promptly present to participate in the firefighting command board and deploy forces and means to ensure security and order.

PC07 promptly grasped the progress of the fire and urgently mobilized vehicles and officers to the scene within 7 - 10 minutes; Organize access and control the fire effectively and prevent the fire from spreading.

Mr. Tam said that in the area where the fire occurred, there was a Fire Prevention and Safety Joint Family Team about 20 meters away, but the forces and means were small, so firefighting was initially ineffective. There are regulations on fire prevention and fighting here, but they are not appropriate.

At the meeting, Mr. Tam requested District 8 Police to direct professional units to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the fire; Urge the police of wards in the area to seriously implement state management of fire prevention and fighting.

"District 8 Police advise the District People's Committee to organize a review and inspection of fire safety for residential areas, households, houses combined with businesses, especially for areas of illegal and unauthorized construction. permit, encroaching on canals...", Mr. Tam requested.

Before that, around 7:40 p.m. on April 1, fire and smoke suddenly broke out at the house (old wooden material storage yard) at 124/4 Pham The Hien (Ward 2, District 8). Discovering the incident, people shouted to try to put out the fire but failed. Just 10 minutes later, the fire quickly spread, burning down the adjacent row of houses. At the scene, a column of smoke rose more than ten meters high.

Receiving the fire alarm, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of District 8 Police coordinated with the Traffic and Order Police Team of District 8 Police and functional units to urgently handle the fire.

By 8:40 p.m. the same day, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished at 8:50 p.m. The fire did not cause any casualties, but completely burned down 50 square meters of house number 206/1/18A, burning about 100 people. /150 square meters of house number 206/1/18, burned about 320 square meters of old wooden material yard (located behind the house row, right on the river bank). The fire department protected the front row of houses of about 1,120 square meters. The row of houses adjacent to the right side of the house was completely burned.
