Many other faces of all shades are constantly visible, sometimes just a few hours apart, and even women and children. They cannot be erased like last time, even know how to move on the floor.
In the Spanish town of Bélmez de la Moraleda, residents went from astonished to horrified to see monstrous faces appear one by one on the floor of a house. The house is owned by the family of Maria Gomez Pereira.
It all started on August 23, 1971, when MarÃa Gómez Cámara, the owner of the house, noticed that on the floor of the family's newly built house appeared stains that continued to run long, then gradually formed a peculiar face. She quickly alerted her husband, Juan Pereira. Juan, along with his son Miguel, then smashed the floor with an axe with a hammer to remove unwanted signs.
But, when the surface of the floor was re-plastered, another gruesome face appeared, different from the previous time. MarÃa's family continued to beat the plaster again and again, but the horrific scene still recurred, making it impossible for them to understand what was happening.
Then, in that small town in Bélmez, Spain, rumors began to spread rapidly. The local mayor asked MarÃa's family not to destroy any more faces, and ordered them to be preserved for research as the site became a tourist attraction.
1 year later, on Easter 1972, hundreds of people visited this house named La Casa de las Caras (House of Faces) as its story became widely known throughout Andalucia and beyond.
It is rumored that, due to the location of the house located at the site of the 17th century crime and near the ancient cemetery. There are also rumors that under this floor there was once a mass grave of executed prisoners.
After rumors spread throughout the country, authorities sent experts to MarÃa's home to check on her and were shocked to discover that MarÃa's house was actually built on top of a mass crypt.
In the mass grave are hundreds of people, all without heads. Radiocarbon measurements show that the diodes date back to around the 13th century, i.e. people who died about 700 years before discovery. Researchers predict it could be a mass burial pit for prisoners sentenced to death. Soon after, the authorities organized an exhumation of the noodles for careful burial in another area. I thought everything would be fine from there, but no one expected it.
Some time later, on the floor of MarÃa's house, not only one face appeared, but many faces constantly appeared with all shades of expression.
The researchers even used special equipment to record sound impulses in this room, and they heard strange sounds, including screaming and crying that came from nowhere.
What's even more bizarre is that now the faces that appear on the floor begin to change shapes, denoting different genders, sizes and even expressing different emotions. It is claimed that a single face is transformed into many others. This further confused investigators.
According to MarÃa, she herself witnessed the phenomenon of ghostly faces constantly changing, disappearing and ... know how to move on the floor. She invited scientists to perform a simple experiment. They used plastic, wax and glue to seal off the room for 3 months.
When the time was up, they opened the door, the faces all changed from the previously recorded image. It appears to have deformed as well as moved during the time the room was sealed.
Soon after, scientists conducted a series of radiation and chemical tests but were inconclusive.
Besides those who believe in ghosts and mysterious psychic phenomena, there are also those who appear sober and suspect it is all a hoax perpetrated by MarÃa's own family. Because, after the rumor spread quickly, her family earned a decent amount of money when turning their house into a tourist attraction.
This mysterious story spread widely and attracted such attention that meticulous research into the concrete and specimens in the house continued until MarÃa's death at the age of 85 in 2004.
The Daily Star reported that in a grisly development, faces continued to appear after MarÃa's death. As recently as 2014, Spanish investigative journalism program Cuarto Milenio performed a technical analysis on faces in an attempt to find the truth behind their existence. They concluded that the images were "not created with paint" and that "no manipulation was performed or there were external factors."
They also tried to reconstruct the faces with concrete solvents, hydrochloric acid and silver nitrate â but without success. The reported results left many "extremely confused".
However, some scientists believe that this is just a random phenomenon caused by a combination of chemicals present in the kitchen. It is possible that table vinegars have acted on cements and accidentally "painted" bizarre faces.
