Ninh Binh: Sleeper car caught fire fiercely, dozens of people fled in panic

The sleeper car specializing in Lang Son - Ha Tinh route was suddenly on fire, the passengers on the car promptly escaped. Within minutes, the car and cargo were completely destroyed by fire.

On the morning of January 3, 2024, the police of Ninh Binh province said that the authorities are urgently clarifying the fire of a passenger car on Road 477 - Ninh Binh City bypass, passing through Ninh An commune, Hoa Lu district.

Around 23h on January 2, the sleeper car controlling Lang Son province was on the route from Lang Son to Ha Tinh, when moving through bypass road 477 (near Ninh Van stone gate, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province) when it suddenly caught fire violently.

At the time of the fire, the driver was Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tu (born in 1969, residing in Vinh City, Nghe An) and 29 other people including the driver and passengers. After receiving the report, the police of Ninh Binh province dispatched 4 fire engines and many soldiers to the scene. By 24 hours, the fire was completely extinguished.

Talking to reporters Dan Tri, commander of Tam Diep Traffic Station, Ninh Binh Provincial Public Security Traffic Department, said all 30 people on board escaped safely before the fire broke out, burning the car along with all goods and luggage.

According to preliminary information, while the vehicle was moving flames rose from the cargo hold area, soon afterwards the garage evacuated all passengers and some cargo. The police of Ninh Binh province are examining the scene and investigating to clarify the incident.

Not long ago, a bus carrying more than 30 people also caught fire violently while traveling on Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway through Ham Thuan Nam district.

The fire occurred around 5 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2023. At that time, a sleeper bus with Ho Chi Minh City license plates, driven by driver Ho Xuan Vinh (born in 1970), circulated in the direction of Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet, carrying 34 passengers.

When reaching Km5 Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, the car suddenly caught fire. By the time people discovered the incident, the fire had also begun to spread, with black smoke spreading all over the car's body.

At this time, Mr. Vinh immediately pulled over into the emergency stop lane and shouted for passengers to flee the car. At the same time, open the luggage compartment to take out everyone's possessions.

Thankfully, all passengers escaped safely in time. Receiving information, the Fire and Rescue Police dispatched specialized vehicles to the scene to focus on firefighting. Traffic police also arrived at the scene to regulate and ensure traffic safety through the area.

After a period of firefighting efforts, the fire was quickly contained and completely extinguished. The fire left the passenger car bare, many parts completely burned. The damage and cause of the fire continue to be clarified by the authorities.

On August 24, there was another bus fire in Thanh Hoa province. Initially, around 11:00 p.m., a bus carrying BKS 43B-037.60 carrying more than 30 people, was traveling on National Highway 1A, in the north-south direction, when it reached the section over the Hang bridge when it suddenly caught fire.

Detecting the incident, the driver quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road, and at the same time urged everyone to get off. Due to the rapid outbreak of the fire, in an instant all the car and luggage and belongings on the car were burned. Thankfully, the incident caused no loss of life, property damage was estimated at billions of dong.

In early July 2023, on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway through Ham Kiem commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, there was also a container truck fire.

At about 23:45 on July 4, Mr. Nguyen Tran Son Duong (born in 1981, Ninh Thuan province) was driving a container truck with control plate 85C-05095, on a cigarette truck, circulating from Ninh Thuan to Ben Tre.

When reaching the CT1 section through Ham Kiem commune (near the expressway interchange), the front of the container truck suddenly caught fire. Although there were no casualties, the tractor of the container was completely burnt.
