Accordingly, the Trial Panel accepted part of the appeal of both the accused and the victim, and sentenced Chau Vinh Hoa to 2 years in prison, but was given a suspended sentence with 4 years of probation. In addition, defendant Chau Vinh Hoa was forced to compensate the victim Le Thanh Nhi Nguyen a total of more than 17 million dong, of which nearly 9 million dong was deducted according to the judgment at the first instance hearing.

Previously, both the defendant and the victim had filed an appeal. The defendant's side appealed for a reduction of the sentence, while the victim's side proposed to cancel the entire first-instance judgment.

Stepping out of the trial, Mr. Vo Van Thang (Diem My's biological father) said: "I don't know what to say other than to congratulate Ms. Hoa on her suspended sentence. I hope that in the near future, she will be able to have more time to take care of children, improve well".

Because the trial involved people in the "Peng Lai retreat", nearly a hundred people gathered at the People's Court to watch the trial with machines, phones, and tools to livestream the incident. The People's Court of Long An province was closed, allowing only people with invitations to attend the trial, and at the same time sent more functional forces to maintain order throughout the trial.

From Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Le Thanh Minh Tung (SN 1985), who claimed to be Mr. Le Tung Van's biological son, was also present before the People's Court of Long An province on the evening of December 9.

Before that, Ms. Chau Vinh Hoa (born 1975) followed Mr. Vo Van Thang's family (living in Ho Chi Minh City) to the Bong Lai Pure House in Lap Thanh hamlet, Hoa Khanh Tay commune, Duc Hoa district, Long An province to find a daughter.

During the scuffle between the two sides, Ms. Hoa took a piece of ceramic tile to throw it towards the group of Tinh That Bong Lai, causing Mr. Le Thanh Nhi Nguyen (SN 1988, self-proclaimed "monk" in Tinh That Bong Lai) injured. According to the results of the examination, the injury rate is 13%.

Up to now, the case has undergone 2 first-instance trials. The amount of the claim amounted to more than 3 billion VND.
