In addition, defendant Chau Vinh Hoa was forced to compensate the victim Le Thanh Nhi Nguyen a total of more than 17 million dong, of which nearly 9 million dong was deducted according to the judgment at the first instance hearing.

Previously, both the defendant and the victim had filed an appeal. The defendant's side appealed for a reduction of the sentence, while the victim's side proposed to cancel the entire first-instance judgment.

Stepping out of the trial, Mr. Vo Van Thang (Diem My's biological father) said: "I don't know what to say other than to congratulate Ms. Hoa on her suspended sentence. I hope that in the near future, she will be able to have more time to take care of children, improve well".
