Tuyen Quang forest fire: Horrific fire kills one person, heartbreaking pai.n

On the afternoon of March 22, when a fire in Yen Son district had just been extinguished, a resident who was participating in the firefighting had to sacrifice himself.

Then, that same evening, another fire broke out in Tuyen Quang province.

According to information from local people, the fire of this forest fire originated in an area of Thai Nguyen province and spread to Trung Yen commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province.

Specifically, at around 3:30 p.m. on March 22, residents of Khuon Dao village, Trung Yen commune discovered a forest fire on Ong Mo mountain - the border area between Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen provinces. The initial cause was determined to be due to people burning vegetation on the field.

Due to dry weather and strong winds, the fire could not be controlled and spread to surrounding areas. As soon as the fire alarm was received, local forces and people quickly deployed fire fightin.g forces. As of 7:30 p.m. the same day, more than 200 people had participated in fire fightin.g.

Authorities have urgently deployed initial measures such as creating firebreaks to contain the fire. It is known that the fire is located on steep mountain terrain, about 1.5 hours of walking through the forest away from residential areas. The dry weather with light winds makes the fire unpredictable.

Faced with this situation, the militia of Trung Yen commune and neighboring communes such as Tan Trao and Minh Thanh are focusing on expanding firebreaks to limit the spread of the fire.

Initial estimates indicate that approximately 20 hectares of forest have been burned. The cause of the fire was determined to be a local resident burning vegetation to plant trees, but the fire spread out of control. Authorities are still investigating and assessing the damage.

A resident of Hoang Khai commune died while participating in fire fightin.g. He was identified as D.D.C, born in 1985, Nui Cay village, Hoang Khai commune. After more than half a day, at around 8:00 a.m. on March 22, the fire was finally extinguished.

Cuong's small house was crowded with people visiting and offering condolences today. The atmosphere of mourning was overwhelming, everyone was heartbroken by his sudden passing. Outside the gate, relatives were also busy setting up a tent to prepare for the funeral, before Cuong was brought home.

Ms. HTĐ - Mr. C's wife, collapsed, her eyes swollen from crying. D.TV (11th grade student), Mr. C's daughter, held her mother's hand tightly, tears rolling down her face. The whole night of March 21, the three of them anxiously waited for news when they saw their father go to put out the fire and forget his phone at home. "Early this morning, around 6am, my mother and I went to the scene and reported to the authorities that my father had not returned. At 8am, the bad news came, my father had passed away...", Viet's voice choked up.

Ms. D squeezed her son's hand, but could not hold back her tears. "He left in such a hurry, his phone was still at home. The whole night, my family and I waited, thinking he was with everyone putting out the fire, not daring to sleep. This morning, I had a bad feeling, so I went to report to the authorities, and then I received the news...", she said, sobbing.

Mr. C is a construction worker, Ms. D is a farmer. The couple saved every penny to build a small house last year, not hiring workers but doin.g i.t themselves to save mone.y. The debt was still not paid off when disaster struck.

Ms. MTN (Mr. C's sister-in-law), from Lam Binh district, immediately came down as soon as she heard the bad news: "My brother is very gentle and kind! He helps everyone, even strangers. When he sees someone with a broken car on the road, he stops to help fix it. I didn't expect that this time, he would sacrifice himself to help put out the fire...", Ms. N shared.

Mr. C will be handed over to his family for funeral arrangements after authorities conduct an autops.y to clarify the cause of deat.h.
