The Military Youth Board added that the Lieutenant had acted bravely and sacrificed while on duty to prevent and control Super Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3) in Luc Hong commune, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province.

Accordingly, at about 8 o'clock on September 7, the 513th Engineer Brigade organized a car carrying trees to support the shacks for the troops at the above location. After taking the support, on the way back, seeing his comrades slipping, in danger of being crushed by the tree, endangering other comrades, Lieutenant Khiem rushed to help.

As a result, he was crushed by a tree and fell. Seeing this, the unit quickly took the brave soldier to Binh Lieu District General Hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to serious injuries, the young lieutenant died at 9:20 on the same day.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province, said that on the same night he received private information confirming the incident. According to the chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Mo district, Lieutenant Khiem is on the payroll of a brigade stationed in Hai Duong province.

After learning about the incident, although he had not received an official notice, Mr. Dinh immediately assigned the authorities of Yen My commune, Yen Mo district to coordinate with the authorities to take care of the organization of welcoming the body of the Lieutenant when returning to his hometown.
