Born in 1997, a native of Yen My commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province, Lieutenant Khiem joined the army in September 2015 and has always been attached and dedicated to his work, especially in difficult and dangerous tasks.

On September 6, the camp system at the project in Pat village, Luc Hong commune, Binh Lieu district was at risk of being unsafe from the strength of the storm. In the face of the emergency situation, Lieutenant Khiem was assigned to command the force to prepare materials for rescue and reinforce the camps to protect the works and local people.

During the mission, on the way back after taking the supporting materials, Lieutenant Khiem discovered that his comrade had slipped, possibly being crushed by a tree, endangering his life.

Without hesitation, he rushed to support his teammate and unfortunately fell. Although he was quickly taken to the emergency room by his teammates, because the wound was too severe, he did not survive. His passing is a great loss for his family, the unit and the whole society.

Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Khiem sacrificed himself to save his comrades, showing a high sense of responsibility and outstanding bravery. His actions are not only a testament to courage but also a symbol of selfless sacrifice for the sake of duty, for the safety of comrades and the people.

On the morning of September 8, the Military Youth Committee (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) submitted a proposal to the Secretariat of the Central Youth Union to posthumously award the "Brave Youth" Badge to soldier Nguyen Dinh Khiem.

According to sharing on her personal page, Ms. H said that she was a person who didn't want to post too many images on social media because she just wanted to keep it to herself. On September 8, Ms. Do Thi Tuyet, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Yen My commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province, said that Lieutenant Khiem was born and raised in village 8, Yen My commune, in a family of 4 brothers and sisters. Mr. Khiem's father works as a helper, his mother stays at home to work in the fields to raise his children to study.

"Lieutenant Khiem's family is in a difficult situation, but his parents have made efforts to raise their children to study well. In which, Khiem and his brother are working in the army, and 2 children are of school age," Ms. Tuyet shared. It is known that Lieutenant Khiem is a gentle person, since childhood he has worked hard to study and train to serve in the army. He just got married at the end of 2023.
