According to the records, Dinh Van Hai (39 years old) and Cong Nhat Phu (40 years old, living in Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province) are inmates with each other. In November 2018, the two completed their prison sentences for property theft. After being released from prison, Phu and Hai invited each other to continue their old "practice".

In May 2019, Hai went to Nguyen Van Dat's mobile phone shop (35 years old, residing in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai) to ask about selling stolen phones, Dat agreed. Having a sales relationship, Hai and Phu bought a crowbar, a son, and a screwdriver to steal property.

From June 2019 to February 2020, the two subjects carried out a total of 8 property thefts in the provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc, taking nearly 400 mobile phones and more than 430 phone cards. , nearly 10 tablets, laptops... with a total asset value of more than 1.26 billion dong. After stealing the property, Hai and Phu brought it back to Dong Nai province and sold it to Dat.

According to the investigative agency, Hai had 4 previous convictions for property theft and abusing trust to appropriate property, while Phu had 1 previous conviction for property theft.

At the end of the trial, the jury sentenced Dinh Van Hai to 16 years in prison, Cong Nhat Phu to 15 years and Nguyen Van Dat to 12 years in prison for the same crime of property theft.
