According to Dan Tri, after a two-day trial (from April 3-4), the People's Court of Nghe An province sentenced Tran Thi Hong Giang (42 years old, residing in Quynh Hong, Quynh Luu, Nghe An communes). ) life sentence for fraud to appropriate property.

Accordingly, Giang used to work as a kitchen assistant at a famous restaurant chain in the country for a short time. After quitting his job at the restaurant, Giang dives into the reward games on social networks. That led to debt, so this woman planned a scam.

Taking advantage of the trust of the victims, Giang initially approached, then introduced himself as a restaurant manager in Vinh city, and then chairman of the nationwide restaurant chain council. Giang seduced the victims that he could apply for a job or persuade them to contribute shares to share profits.

During the approach, Giang found that some people who believe in spirituality should "draw" scenarios to profit, in which, some "tricks" used by Giang often can be mentioned as giving guessing about the negative part, about "death", suggesting to do a ceremony or persuade to transfer money to a Buddhist fund (which is not real), after 7 years withdraw both principal and interest. Because of believing in Giang's words, many victims have transferred money to ask for jobs, contribute shares, perform a retirement ceremony, contribute funds ...

With these plays, from June 2020 to January 2022, Tran Thi Hong Giang appropriated 8 victims, totaling up to 15 billion VND. In which, the most people are over 7.4 billion VND, the least are 285 million VND. Among the victims was Giang's former teacher. All the money appropriated from the victims, Giang used to play games on the Internet to change prizes and lose clean.

In addition, related to the case is Nguyen Thi Tuyet (35 years old, residing in Quynh Bang commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An). Tuyet is the one who was carried and helped by Giang. When some of the victims suspected that Giang was cheating and asked Tuyet, this woman did not provide the right information and also had words to help Giang make the victims trust and transfer money.

Authorities determined that Nguyen Thi Tuyet played the role of an accomplice, helping Giang to commit two acts of appropriation with a total amount of more than 4.2 billion VND.

At the trial, Tuyet admitted that she knew that Giang's behavior was a fraud, but because she "respected" Giang had taken care of her, she did not expose it. Although she was not given a share, sometimes Tuyet would be given money to spend by Giang.

The trial panel sentenced Nguyen Thi Tuyet to 12 years in prison. But because this defendant raised a child under 36 months old, the execution of the sentence was postponed.

Not long ago, there was a similar case of taking advantage of spiritual factors to appropriate property.

Specifically, on May 31, the People's Procuracy of Bac Lieu province issued an indictment against defendant Nguyen Van Ut (born 1975, residing in Chau Thoi commune, Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province) on the crime of "fraud" appropriating property" specified at Point a, Clause 4, Article 174 of the Penal Code.

According to the indictment, in 2012, Nguyen Van Ut started practicing superstition at his permanent residence, Ba Chang A hamlet, Chau Thoi commune, Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province. Thereby, Nguyen Van Ut went up "miraculous" to claim the name "Teacher Hoang", "Teacher Chuong", "Mr. Leo" to see fortune-telling and treat diseases for many people, in which many victims were identified.

By 2015, Ut needed money to spend, so there was a sense of appropriation, taking advantage of the superstition of the victims, Ut devised a fraudulent trick by using texting phones to claim the names of temples and " Association of Vietnamese Buddhist shamans" to request offerings and perform rituals to neutralize bad luck; Pray for health, good things, peace for the family and good business.

With the trick of giving lies as above, Ut appropriated 8 victims with a total amount of more than 2.1 billion dong.

After discovering that they had been scammed to appropriate property, the victims filed a denunciation against Nguyen Van Ut at the Police Investigation Agency of Bac Lieu Province.
