On the hospital bed on June 15, Lieutenant Dam Dinh Bop's whole body was covered with breathing cords, suction tubes, medicine... he recounted the terrifying moment when the headquarters was attacked.
Specifically, at about 1 a.m. on June 11, Mr. Bop received a strange phone call, a man's voice said "he returned to the headquarters, people came to report". The deputy police officer of the commune drove his own car back to the office.
Just arrived at the headquarters yard (shared area with Ea Ktur Commune People's Committee), Mr. Bop saw a group of people running over, so he lowered the car window and asked "what's wrong?". "I didn't finish my sentence when I was stabbed and slashed by someone repeatedly," said Bop. Others shouted "kill it", throwing petrol bombs into cars. Mr. Bop jumped to the back seat, kicked the car door, hugged his stomach wound and ran to the back of the office.
The security camera here recorded that the fire broke out in the car, and Mr. Bop rushed out with his pants on fire. The lieutenant hugged his wound tightly to prevent blood loss, then ran into a nearby coffee garden and gradually fell into a state of loss of control. Before he passed out, there were screams all around, and people's legs ran fast. "When I woke up, I heard some brothers in the commune, so I tried to call for help," said Bop.
He was taken to the Central Highlands General Hospital at nearly 3 am, in a state of two cuts in the abdomen, lost a lot of blood, and burned his legs.
"Physical pain cannot be compared with the pain of losing brothers and comrades," said Lieutenant Dam Dinh Bop, with tears in his eyes.
In the hospital bed next to him, Captain Le Kien Cuong recovered after doctors removed the bullet from his chest. However, the bullet also broke many ribs, so every time he turned, he winced in pain.
He said, that night, after a tiring day of work, he and Major Hoang Trung and Captain Nguyen Dang Nhan slept in a bunk bed in a small room on the top floor of the headquarters - more than ten meters from where Mr. Bop was attacked. He was on the top floor, his two teammates were on the lower two floors. When a group of strangers rushed in, he was hit by a bullet without having time to react, waking up to find himself in the hospital.
In recent days, taking care of her husband, Hiep (31 years old) said that doctors still had to suck fluids for Mr. Cuong continuously, bullets were shot near his lungs, so it was difficult for him to talk. "He was lucky to escape death, his wound is now fine, but when friends come to visit him, when he mentions his fallen comrades, he cries," Hiep said.
The armed group not only targeted two police officers of Ea Ktur commune, but also attacked the headquarters of the People's Committee of Ea Tieu commune, killing Major Tran Quoc Thang and Captain Ha Tuan Anh. They went to the street to block and shoot people, causing 5 victims to die (including the Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Ea Ktur Nguyen Van Kien and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Tieu Nguyen Van Dung), seriously injuring 2 others.
Immediately after the incident, the Ministry of Public Security directed the Dak Lak Provincial Police and professional units to coordinate many forces to arrest the suspect group. By the morning of June 14, there were 46 people detained (including 3 people who confessed), most of them living in Dak Lak.
VTV on the evening of June 13 reported that suspect Y Chanh Nie said that he was promised a rich life by his "boss", telling him to kill and shoot every time he saw someone. Y Tim Nie said that he was instructed to "see where there are people, he must shoot them all", and Y Man Mio said that "the leader told him to stand guard, if the people did not follow, he would stab".
Lieutenant General To An Xo, a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, assessed that the group of suspects committed "organised, very violent, reckless and dehumanizing" acts.
According to the Prime Minister's decision on June 12, the martyrs who were granted national diplomas for merit include: Major Hoang Trung, Captain Nguyen Dang Nhan, Major Tran Quoc Thang, Captain Ha Tuan Anh, Mr. Nguyen Van Kien and Mr. Nguyen Van Dung.
In addition, a man in Binh Duong was also fined VND 7.5 million for using social networks to post inciting information, causing insecurity and offending the honor of the People's Public Security force.
In addition to the fine, the Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications of Binh Duong province asked this man to remove information posted that is false and violates the law.
