Specifically, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital is treating 321 cases, discharging 19 cases, issuing prescriptions for patients treated at home is 96 cases, transferring 11 cases.
Currently, the patients being treated at this hospital are stable. The hospital is still admitting patients but not massively.
Dong Nai Rubber General Hospital received treatment for 22 cases, including 9 children and no severe cases.
Particularly, Dong Nai Children's Hospital is receiving treatment for 12 children with poisoning related to the above incident. In which, there are 5 severe cases but are being actively treated by doctors and nurses, so the pediatric patient has better signs and better progress. Two severe cases on ventilators last night added dialysis, and hemodynamics are now stable.
One of the two cases on dialysis and mechanical ventilation is a 6-year-old boy. According to family members, he ate bread on the evening of April 30, and on May 1, he vomited and had loose diarrhea but was not immediately hospitalized. On May 2, he vomited heavily, had a lot of loose diarrhea, convulsions, and was admitted to Long Khanh General Hospital in a state of coma, cyanosis, cardiac arrest, apnea. He received first aid and then transferred to Dong Nai Children's Hospital, still in a coma, with heart, liver and kidney damage.
The second most severe case was a 7-year-old boy, who also ate bread on April 30 and then vomited, diarrhea and abdominal pain. He was admitted to Long Khanh General Hospital and then transferred to Dong Nai Children's Hospital in a state of lethargy and low blood pressure. By this morning, the patient's situation has improved, blood pressure has stabilized, heart is stable, urinating.
Dr. Le Quang Trung, director of Dong Nai Health Department, said the number of suspected poisoning cases was increasing but the patient's health was stable after hospitalization. Long Khanh General Hospital has set up an additional emergency and poisoning treatment unit with 70 beds to focus on receiving and treating suspected cases of food poisoning from May 2, "so it is not overcrowded". "The hospital's doctors still do a good job of providing first aid and medical examination and treatment to the victims of this incident," Trung said.
In a letter to Dong Nai Department of Health, the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) requested the Department of Health of Dong Nai province to implement contents related to the suspected food poisoning incident that occurred at the bread establishment in Xuan Binh ward, Long Khanh city, Dong Nai province.
Accordingly, the Department of Food Safety requested the Department of Health of Dong Nai province to direct the hospital with bread poisoning patients being treated, focusing resources on actively treating food poisoning patients not to affect health and life.
Urgently investigate and determine the cause of the poisoning as prescribed, take food samples and specimens for testing to find the cause and publicize the results to promptly alert the community.
Immediately suspend a bread establishment suspected of causing food poisoning in the area. Inspect food safety conditions for the above establishment, if any violations are detected, they should be strictly handled according to regulations.
Strengthen propaganda and guide food service establishments to ensure hygiene and food safety conditions, strictly implement the management of origin of food materials, store food samples and hygiene in processing stages. Report the implementation results to the Food Safety Administration according to regulations.
