Vinh Phuc: A plastic recycling facility was "swallowed up" by fire, with a column of smoke tens of meters high

On the night of March 14, a large fire broke out at a plastic factory located in Yen Dong commune, Yen Lac district, Vinh Phuc. According to reports from surrounding people, the fire occurred with a loud explosion and a column of smoke dozens of meters high quickly appeared.

At around 11 p.m. on March 14, people heard a loud explosion, then smoke and fire erupted violently in the Yen Dong industrial cluster (Yen Lac district, Vinh Phuc). The fire broke out in the middle of the night, causing many people to panic. People used water on site to put out the fire, but because the facility contained flammable materials, it was ineffective.

The fire spread rapidly and spread to two neighboring plastic recycling facilities owned by Mr. Le Trung Thuc, 42 years old, and Nguyen Van Quynh, 41 years old.

Vinh Phuc Provincial Fire Prevention and Rescue Police mobilized 5 fire engines, two tank trucks, two pumps, a excavator and 40 officers and soldiers to the scene.

On the morning of March 15, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Chairman of Yen Lac District People's Committee, confirmed that around 11:00 p.m. on March 14, a large fire occurred in a plastic factory located in the Yen Dong industrial cluster.

"By 2 a.m. this morning, the functional forces completely extinguished the fire. There were no casualties in the fire. Yen Lac district police are clarifying the cause," Mr. Tu informed.

The Chairman of Yen Lac district affirmed that the local government and fire police had previously inspected and asked households to sign a commitment to ensure fire safety and prevention.

"The fire was caused by people's negligence," Mr. Vu said.

Yen Dong is originally an agricultural commune of Yen Lac district. In recent years, the commune has strongly developed two industries of recycling plastic and cotton with nearly 150 businesses and handicraft production establishments.

Also on the evening of March 14, people discovered a fire coming from a room on the 3rd floor of a 5-storey house, in Tan Trieu commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Team of Thanh Tri District Police dispatched fire engines, officers and soldiers to the scene. However, when present, the working group did not have to deploy a firefighting team but only received and assisted in handling to ensure people's safety.

The police initially determined that the fire started in a room on the 3rd floor. The cause was a fire in a refrigerator with a plastic cover, causing thick smoke, causing people to panic. The girl who was renting a room in the house was also so panicked that she screamed for help. While running down to the first floor, she slipped and fell, scraping her limbs.

It is known that the house for rent is 6 floors high, 1 tum, the owners of the house are Mr. D.TL (born 1972) and Mrs. D.TH, just put into use and rented out in early 2024.
Before being put into operation, the Fire and Rescue Police force propagated, advised, and fully equipped initial fire-fighting equipment.

The fire was caused by a short circuit in the refrigerator and a fire from the plastic case causing thick smoke, causing many people to panic and scream. During the firefighting process, a panicked woman was injured in her limbs.

The owners of the rental house where the fire occurred are Mr. Do Thanh L. (born 1972) and Ms. Do Thi Thu H. who have just put it into use for rent since early 2024. Before putting it into operation, the Police Department Firefighting and rescue have propagated and recommended adequate equipment and homeowners have been equipped with fire extinguishers in easy-to-reach places.

The police force of Thanh Tri district and Tan Trieu commune were also present immediately afterward to coordinate in protecting the scene and documenting the investigation of the cause of the fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this fire.
