Revocation of CAND title and criminal detention of boy kidnapper in Long Bien

After rescuing and investigating the abduction of a 7-year-old boy in Long Bien, Hanoi, authorities have clearly verified the identity and temporarily arrested suspect Nguyen Duc Trung.

In the past few days, the case of a boy in Long Bien who was kidnapped by a young man riding a white car to extort money from his family with an amount of up to VND 15 billion has received great attention from authorities, the media as well as the online community. This is also considered Hanoi's first kidnapping and extortion in 19 years.

When her son was kidnapped, his mother panicked and thought her son had been harmed, Ms. H.'s family managed to collect about VND 13 billion, and reported the incident to the police of Viet Hung ward.

After receiving a report from the boy's mother about the kidnapping and extortion on the evening of August 14, the city's police director chaired a meeting with leaders and commanders of units in the unit and agreed to direct a plan to rescue the child.

After nearly 10 hours, at about 5am on August 15, the police arrested the suspect at the collection road of Dong Van Industrial Park, Dong Van town, Ha Nam province. It is known that the person who kidnapped the boy to blackmail his family was Nguyen Duc Trung.

At the investigating agency, suspect Nguyen Duc Trung confessed to his illegal acts. According to the testimony of the subject, due to debt, he developed the intention to kidnap children for ransom. Around 19:00 on August 14, Trung was driving a car around Viet Hung urban area when he noticed that Ms. H.'s son was riding a bicycle, so he controlled and kidnapped him.

After catching the child, Trung tied her hands and took her through many areas of Hanoi. The subject repeatedly called the child's family to demand 15 billion VND ransom.

At about 5am on August 15, when Trung took the boy to the road to collect Dong Van industrial zone, Dong Van town, Ha Nam, he was arrested by police forces.

After taking testimony from the family of the victim and suspect Nguyen Duc Trung, on the evening of August 16, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, confirmed that the person who kidnapped the boy in Long Bien was Nguyen Duc Trung, a lieutenant and an officer working at the General Staff Team of the Traffic Department - Vinh Phuc Provincial Police.

" Immediately after that, the Hanoi Police Investigation Agency sent a letter to the Director of Police of Vinh Phuc province requesting to carry out procedures for stripping Nguyen Duc Trung of the title of people's police according to the regulations of the police branch for strict handling in accordance with the provisions of law." Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police said.

Regarding the gun Trung used to fight the police, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, deputy director of Hanoi City Police, said the gun was purchased online. There were 6 rounds left in the gun. During the pursuit, the subject fired 1 bullet at the criminal police officer of Long Bien district, 1 bullet continued on the barrel.

According to the deputy director of Hanoi City Police, before committing the kidnapping, Trung prepared guns and fake license plates to escape. Leaders of the Hanoi City Police assessed that the offender's behavior was very forceful, bold, sophisticated and blatant.

Based on the contents of the notice and request of the Hanoi City Police, the Director of Police of Vinh Phuc province has issued a decision on disciplining officials in the form of stripping Nguyen Duc Trung of the title of People's Police, as a basis for the investigating agency to carry out legal activities as prescribed.

Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police affirmed: " We do not cover, conceal, condone criminals and deal with them drastically, without a no-go zone, regardless of who the person is in accordance with the instructions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Minister of Public Security."

At the same time, the Hanoi police also issued a decision to prosecute the case and criminally detain Nguyen Duc Trung (SN 1992, in Dong Tinh commune, Tam Duong district, Vinh Phuc) to clarify the act of kidnapping to seize property.
