Testimony of kidnapped boy in Long Bien: The subject acted "cheekily", extorting VND 15 billion

After hours of chasing the subject, on the morning of August 15, the Hanoi City Police leader said that the unit had issued a decision to criminally detain Nguyen Duc Trung (SN 1992, native of Tam Duong district, Vinh Phuc province). It is known that Duc Trung is the suspect in kidnapping a 7-year-old boy in Viet Hung ward on the evening of August 14.

According to Trung's initial testimony, around 6 p.m., he drove into Viet Hung urban area by car and saw N.H.P. riding his bicycle alone. Immediately, the suspect stopped the vehicle, hit and carried the child straight into the car. After leaving the scene, Trung asked for P.'s mother's phone, contacted and offered a ransom of VND 15 billion.

When threatened, the child's parents prepared about 13 billion VND. The kidnapper asked his family to move through various areas to give him money. Duc Trung also constantly moved through provinces such as Hung Yen, Bac Giang, and Henan to avoid police arrest.

However, by 5am this morning, the authorities had successfully arrested Trung, who was in Henan. At the same time rescue the baby safely. "The boy was rescued safely, with no injuries on his body," said the police chief of Long Bien district.

The suspect reportedly prepared a gun to fight back on the run. During the siege, the suspect fired a sú.ng that caused a criminal police officer of Long Bien District Police to be shot and wounded in the thigh. Currently, Hanoi police are still investigating the case and making case files to prosecute Trung's crimes.

On the side of the victim's family, sharing with VTC News, Mr. C. - the father of the child said: last night, his wife came back from outside, panicked to tell him that a stranger called to say that their 7-year-old son was kidnapped - had to prepare 15 billion VND, otherwise don't expect to see me again.

"I didn't believe it, thought it was someone's joke so I called back. The subject who heard the man's voice immediately shut down. Seeing the other person turn off the phone, I understood, the kidnapping of my son was real," Mr. C. recalled.

Mr. C. and his wife looked at each other in shock. Although he was worried about his children's safety, Mr. C. tried to remain calm and encouraged his wife to be psychologically stable. " The first thing I reported to the police. Then, check the security cameras of your home and neighbors where the incident took place for documents to provide to the authorities. The place where my son was kidnapped was right on the doorstep opposite," C. said.

"When the police rescued the hostages, my wife was the first to call me. His wife burst into joy, laughing and crying. I was at the police headquarters at the time, I hugged a police officer on duty and had tears in my eyes," Mr. C. said.

The family said the boy's mood has now stabilized. After being rescued, Mr. C. heard from his son that last night, he was riding his bicycle when the man drove up to him and asked "is this Uncle Tuan's house." The boy turned towards the house, answering no. When she wasn't paying attention, the man suddenly grabbed her in the car from the driver's seat, put black tape over her mouth and tied her with a rope.

The boy also added that the suspect bought bread for him, but he did not dare to eat it because he was afraid the bread was laced with poison. When he was thirsty, the boy asked the kidnapper for water but he refused. "I asked him why he didn't dare to drink water when he didn't eat bread, and he said if he could drink it, I could drink it too," Mr. C. said.

Recalling the evening of the kidnapping, Mr. C. said: "I always had faith that he would come back to me, at no time did I think he would be in a bad situation because there were authorities who would do their best to help the family."
