Earlier, around 2:30 on the same day, a fire broke out violently in the plastic injection workshop of about 100 m2 on National Highway 1 in Binh Hung Hoa B ward, Binh Tan district. Seeing this, residents living in the nearby area jumped up and shouted and used fire extinguishers to assist in putting out the fire but the doors of this facility were closed.
A short time later, the fire began to make a loud bang, the pressure causing some of the metal roofs of the plastic facility to blow away, splashing into the surrounding residential area; At the same time, the toxic smoke rose suspiciously, causing many people to panic. The on-site firefighting failed, the fire raged immediately.
Receiving the information, the Binh Tan District Police Fire Protection and Rescue Force dispatched many fire engines and officers and soldiers to the scene. The fire was contained and extinguished soon after.
Notably, when the fire was fierce, many people living next to the plastics processing workshop were suffocated by toxic smoke and tried to flee. However, Ms. H.L - a tour guide (32 years old, Tien Giang province) was not as lucky as others, although she was assisted to take her to the emergency room, but did not survive.

Mrs. H., who lives near the mini-apartment wiping away tears, said she stayed up almost all night to join her neighbors in rescuing people trapped in the fire and assisting fire and rescue forces.
According to VTC News, recalling the image of a man from Phu Tho rushing down to Hanoi to find her son's whereabouts, Mrs. H. couldn't help but be heartbroken. She said near midnight he received a phone call from her son, his voice urging "Daddy is on fire, I'm asphyxiated," then lost contact.
"He was sitting in front of my door, and when I asked about it, he choked up and said, 'Sister, I'm 20 years old, he's tall and handsome. My child is dead, he's suffocating to death," Mrs. H. said, choking up. She also tried to tell the man to calm down and not to say negative things, but he was so heartbroken, he kept muttering "my baby is dead, sister."
According to the father in Phu Tho, his son lives with his uncle in an apartment in a mini-apartment. At the time of the fire, her uncle was not home. At this time, as soon as she heard the cry for help on the 3rd floor, Mrs. H. hurriedly shouted: "Everyone, save the 3rd floor, see if his son is still alive." Then there was the echo: "4 people can come in here to carry it" because this young man was tall.
"The victim was later picked up but it is unclear whether he lived or died. I urged him to run to the front of the apartment building to see how he was doing," Mrs. H. continued. She also added that another household of 3 brothers, the brother is a doctor, put wet towels in his face and rushed out of the fire. This person is in hospital, his health is stable. The two brothers don't know how to live and die.
Before the arrival of the Fire and Rescue Service, many panicked people jumped to the rooftop next door, breaking their limbs. "The children were so scared that they couldn't let out any crying, some babies were put in plastic buckets, and their parents moved from the 7th floor tiger cage to the neighbor's house to save their children," Mrs. H. said.
