SHOCKING: A programmer in HN was 'beaten like medieval times', pulled out 14 teeth to force him to write gambling games

The news that a young man of foreign nationality was arrested by a group of people in Hanoi and then "physically impacted" like in medieval times with the aim of forcing this young man to write illegal games is causing a stir.

Recently, the People's Court of Hanoi tried the case of "physical impact" of a young foreign national by a group of people including Vuong Van Kiem (32 years old, from Hai Duong City, Hai Duong province) for a total of 24 years in prison, Pham Van Huan (33 years old, in Hai Duong City) 22 years in prison, Ly Van Hoang (32 years old, in Yen Son, Tuyen Quang) 12 years in prison for the crimes of "Intentionally causing injury" and "Unlawful arrest of persons".

Accordingly, the jury found that the defendants had repeatedly committed acts of causing injury and detaining the victim for a long period of time as "unacceptable" and "causing outrage among the people".

According to the allegations, the defendants received orders from Hoang Thanh Son (SN 46, of Hanoi, now absconding) to "physically influence" Fang Lijing (Chinese national) to write online gambling software.

Mr. Fang works in the field of writing game software, but due to difficulties, he entered Vietnam to find market development partners. Hoang Thanh Son, when he met Mr. Fang, hired this person to write online games, promising to share 20% of the profits, but still no software worked.

In March 2022, Son directed Kiem and Huan to arrest Fang and put him in an apartment building in Thanh Oai district (Hanoi). On a daily basis, the two defendants "physically influenced" the victim to write gambling software. Defendant Huang was hired to cook rice for Fang and also participated in the "physical impact" of the victim.

They also prepared pliers, hammers, nails, knives, drills, and electric batons to "physically impact" Fang. During nearly 4 months of "physical impact", the "evil" pulled out 14 of Mr. Fang's teeth, repeatedly slashed his feet with knives, broke bones with hammers...

After rescuing Fang in July 2022, police conducted an examination that found that the victim sustained 36 serious injuries, causing 88% damage to his health.

Also during the detention period, "physical impact", Fang, Kiem's group did not even feed the victim "nutritious" food, only rice and tofu. Every time they "physically impact," they cover the victim's mouth and turn on high-powered speakers to drown out screams and cries.

In court, the defendants claimed to have been paid to "physically influence" the victim and said they "regretted their behaviour".

At trial, the presiding judge asked the defendants: "Is your actions acceptable? Leg slits, arm slits, limb injuries? Pull out 14 teeth, pull out whole toenails. Man to man to each other? How will others treat the defendant like that?" the defendants bowed their heads silently, not answering.

The representative of the Procuracy also assessed that the defendants' behavior was "hooliganism, callousness, dehumanization" and committed continuous crimes, "physical impact", the victim for nearly 4 months of detention should need strict punishment. Neither of the 3 defendants disputed this view.

Among the above, Vuong Van Kiem has 2 previous convictions for intentionally causing injury and gambling, while Pham Van Huan has been imprisoned 5 times for theft, human trafficking and 2 times administrative fines for related to banned substances and gambling.

In addition to sentencing, the Court of First Instance also said that Fang Lijing suffered serious health damage, and could not determine the damage, so it gave the victim the right to initiate a civil lawsuit, asking the defendants for further compensation.

After the case went to trial, it received the attention of netizens. Most online accounts have expressed their anger and outrage at the cruelty of this group of people.

- I think there is no remorse in the conduct of the defendants in this case because it is not an act of outburst but remorse. They did this for days and hours to their victims, which proved that they were cruel and brutal by nature. This sentence is too light for these guys, it must be death sentences for them....

- Having determined that they are dehumanizing, even if they commit crimes against other foreigners, they must receive the highest sentence. If, on the other hand, our fellow citizens are subjected to "physical impact", exploitation in the CPC also makes us want to eradicate only the demons in human disguise.

- Such a sentence in my opinion is not enough of a deterrent, such a crime should be allowed for the victim to propose a sentence, I believe that anyone who is "physically affected" cannot tolerate imprisonment. I personally suggest that the death sentence of all 3 defendants is sufficient to deter the germs of crime!
