This parent added that some other students were disgruntled and wanted to protect her child, so the other female student beat her. All 4 children are currently traumatized, crying a lot, panicking, chest tightness, many scratches and bruises.
Recently, a series of clips related to the school violence incident that took place at ISHCMC-AA International School, Ho Chi Minh City caused a stir on social networks. Specifically, Ms. THT - a parent of a child studying at this school has angrily denounced the violent behavior of a female student who has just transferred to the school.
Ms. T. recounted the incident as follows: "Last week, the school organized a trip for you to Ho Tram. My child kept the chair for you. She beat my child today (referred to as A.) came over and asked if anyone was sitting on this chair yet My son said 'Yes, my friend is sitting'... Then I thought everything was over! on the chest and hit, scratched people right on the school campus.
At first, I didn't know the incident, the parents of the other beaten friends came before me, but the school did not send them back! It wasn't until the parents finally called me that I mustered up the courage to tell my mother to go to school to solve the problem..."
"After that, the other child also wanted to drag my son out to fight again. Outside, near the school, many male students were waiting for my son with weapons to 'treat' my child," said Mrs. THT.
"When we arrived at the school, we first wanted to get the school's opinion, but the school denied responsibility, blamed it and told the families the phone number to call each other to resolve! I was extremely frustrated! ...
I can't keep my composure now... The family side of A also showed a defiant attitude, trusting the relationship... Even now, I'm still shaking, because if today, I don't come to pick up my child. , my child is not perfect anymore."
This parent added that some other students were disgruntled and wanted to protect her child, so the other female student beat her. All 4 children are currently traumatized, crying a lot, panicking, chest tightness, many scratches and bruises.
On the evening of May 26, she sent her son to the doctor. According to the medical examination results provided by Mrs. THT, her daughter had a wound on her hand, had difficulty breathing, and the chest X-ray showed nothing abnormal. Ms. THT said that in the incident, the school respected and listened to parents, no one took responsibility for protecting their children.
"In addition, male students still call and text threaten their children. I am really confused and scared for my son, so I decided to let him drop out of school from today," added Mrs. THT.
Mr. Trinh Duy Trong, Head of the Department of Politics and Thought, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that with the case as reflected by parents, the department's view is that the school should be responsible for solving, including meeting with parents, ensure the safety of students, do ideological work for them to stabilize, and avoid affecting their studies.
Mr. Trong further informed that the department will work with the education department to grasp the incident for guidance, and at the same time coordinate with the local police (if relevant) to ensure the safety and psychology of students.
Mr. Nathan Swenson, Principal of International School HCMC (ISHCMC-AA), confirmed the incident happened on the afternoon of May 26, after school, outside the school. According to the school principal, at that time, a part-time teaching assistant of ISHCMC-AA saw students fighting.
This person immediately entered the school, called the person to stop. The principal personally came out and led the children into the school, he said. Mr. Nathan Swenson said that when he met students, some of them had scratches and bruises. So he sent the children to the school health room to check. The nurse determined that the student was scratched, there was no serious problem, so he sent them home.
According to the principal, the school follows the handling process, inviting related students to talk to find out before working with their families to resolve the matter. However, when they first started talking, parents came over, there was a dispute, they had to stop.
Due to the unresolved issue on May 26, May 27, the school continued to find out for a solution. "Today, the school spoke to 14 students. We understand the situation. The next step is to talk to the parents to resolve the issue.
Normally, the school handles the incident smoothly to help the children resolve the conflict, but things become more difficult when the investigation process is so hindered," added a representative of ISHCMC-AA.
When asked about parents complaining about having to suspend their children from school because of concerns about safety, Mr. Swenson refused to provide information on whether students attended school or not on May 27. However, he has repeatedly insisted that the school is still safe and "other students still go to school".
Mr. Nathan Swenson admitted this was an unexpected incident, which happened when the students were between the ages of 12 and 18, a time when they were still immature and prone to making mistakes. The school's position is that no matter who is right or who is wrong, adults should respect children's privacy. "No matter what happens, we need to give them the opportunity to develop and learn from the incident," he emphasized.
After the fight between students, Mr. Swenson said the school sent an email to parents with children attending here to report the incident. Regarding the fact that they have not contacted the family of the student who was beaten, he explained that because the incident happened on the afternoon of May 26, since then, they have been busy with many things, including the farewell meeting of the 12th graders, so have not worked with parents.
On May 27, the school plans to contact families to inquire about the student's health status, notify them of the completion of the verification process and make an appointment with them. Mr. Nathan Swenson reaffirmed that the school will handle it fairly, consistently, respond to parents and always be ready to listen to the opinions of students' families.
After receiving the information shared from the school, Ms. THT, said that as of the afternoon of May 27, she had not received any calls from the school. The female parent also denied that her child was taken to the school infirmary to be examined, as Mr. Nathan Swenson said. She asked the school to extract the camera to see the whole incident between 14:30 and 15:00 of the students involved.
"Whatever the outcome, my child will end up attending this school," said THT.
