In recent days, the public nationwide has been particularly concerned and worried about the news of two mysterious missing male students in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. A tearful distress call has opened up many shocking questions.
Mysterious "mom" call from missing male student in Ho Chi Minh City
According to Dan Viet newspaper, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Binh (born in 1978, residing on Tran Van On Street, Tan Son Nhi Ward, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) is desperately searching for her son Nguyen Van Bao (born in 2009), who mysteriously disappeared 5 days ago.
Bao had just finished 10th grade and was on summer vacation. Before he went missing, he had expressed his desire to work part-time but his family did not agree. Things became tense when on the afternoon of June 22, when Binh and her husband returned home, Bao was nowhere to be found. All attempts to contact him by phone and text message were unanswered. The family searched everywhere, from close friends to the school, but there were no clues about his whereabouts.
Luckily, thanks to images extracted from a neighbor's security camera, the family discovered that Bao had left home and got into a technology taxi with the license plate 50H-733.xx on the morning of June 22. This was the first ray of hope, helping Mrs. Binh quickly find the driver of the car.
The driver said that the ride was booked by someone else via the app to pick Bao up, with the destination specified as Go Dau or Trang Bang (Tay Ninh) – an area bordering Cambodia. However, the driver could not remember the specific address where Bao got off the car and was only willing to provide detailed information to the authorities.
Determined not to let things come to a standstill, Ms. Binh quickly reported the incident to the Tan Son Nhi Ward Police and sent information via the VNeID application to the Ho Chi Minh City Police, calling for support from the authorities. However, after many days, the family's search efforts have not yielded any significant clues about Bao's current whereabouts.
The peak of her anxiety was around noon on June 27, when Ms. Binh suddenly received a call from an unknown number. When she picked up the phone, she was shocked to hear her son's weak voice calling for help: "Mom, mom", then the signal was suddenly cut off. Ms. Binh tried to call back but the number was reported unreachable.
"I heard my son's voice very clearly, as if he was being controlled by someone. The family is very worried that Bao may have been taken abroad, involved in transnational fraud rings that are rampant, especially in Cambodia or Laos. We hope that the authorities will soon intervene to help the family find our son," Ms. Binh shared in tears and a trembling voice.
Community response and risk warning
News of Bao’s haunting phone call quickly spread across social media, drawing great attention from the community. Many people expressed their deep sympathy for the pain of Mrs. Binh’s family, while offering advice and warnings about online scams that lure young people to work abroad illegally.
However, besides the words of encouragement, there were also quite a few harsh comments about the male student's attitude before he went missing. Some opinions said that Bao's disobedience to his family and his desire to work extra hours had put him in a dangerous situation.
Currently, Tan Son Nhi Ward Police have received information from Ms. Binh's family and are actively supporting the investigation and clarification of the case, hoping to soon find Bao's whereabouts.
Another missing case causes concern in Hanoi
Also on June 27, Hanoi City Police issued an urgent notice to search for Mai Van Quang (born in 2010, residing in Ha Dong District, Hanoi), who left home on June 4 and has not returned yet. According to information from the family, before leaving home, Quang had no conflict with anyone and only took his phone with him.
Quang's father told reporters: "The first week we tried to contact him but he didn't answer the phone, and now his phone is turned off." This has left the family extremely confused and worried about his safety.
Relatives have searched in many areas around Ha Dong, Cau Giay districts and other places Quang may have been, but all efforts have been fruitless. More than 20 days have passed in the weary wait, the family is looking forward to the community's support, if anyone sees Quang, please contact the family immediately.
