Gir.l group NewJeans appeared on the red carpet at the 2024 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) in Bangkok, Thailand. The group still pursued the familiar Y2K style, but the outfits they wore caused controversy.

NewJeans is currently embroiled in a contract dispute with ADOR Company (part of HYBE Group). The five female idols (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) announced the termination of their contracts on November 29. However, ADOR has filed a lawsuit to request legal confirmation that the exclusive contract is still valid.

On December 25, when appearing on the radio program "Kim Hyun Jung's News Sho.w", the 5 members of NewJeans did their own makeup, hair, and chose their own outfits, without any connection to ADOR.

NewJeans then won Best Performance for "How Sweet" at the "9th Asia Artist Awards". They thanked the former CEO of ADOR. In their acceptance speech, NewJeans expressed their joy.

NewJeans is currently pursuing independent activities. At the time, the group stated, "The fault lies with HYBE and ADOR, so there is no reason for us to file a lawsuit or pay any fines." In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking confirmation of the validity of the contract with the Seoul Central District Court.

In addition to fulfilling their scheduled ADOR commitments, the members have been working on independent projects. They recently created a new Instagram account called “jeanzforfree” to connect directly with their fans. They also recently attracted attention when they appeared in a Vogue photoshoot directed by former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. The photoshoot featured the members’ real names instead of the group name NewJeans, which further increased public interest.
