On December 25, Korean time, the members of NewJeans appeared on the second segment of CBS Radio's "Kim Hyun Jung's News Show."
Here, they share their thoughts on the past year and their aspirations for the year ahead. Notably, they don't use their group name "NewJeans," but instead participate under their own names â Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
Hanni expressed her wish for 2025, saying, "I hope we can have a big stage performance in Korea. When I say a big stage, I don't just mea.n a large audience, but a performance where I can show my best."
The idol added, "Just like we did at Tokyo Dome this year, I want to put on a great performance in Korea. We don't have any plans yet, but imagining such a stage makes me excited. I hope we can gather with the Bunnies (our fandom) and make it happen soon."
NewJeans is currently pursuing independent activities after announcing the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR at midnight on November 29. At the time, the group stated, "The fault lies with HYBE and ADOR, so there is no reason for us to file a lawsuit or pay any fines." In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking confirmation of the validity of the contract with the Seoul Central District Court.
In addition to fulfilling their scheduled ADOR commitments, the members have been working on independent projects. They recently created a new Instagram account called âjeanzforfreeâ to connect directly with their fans. They also recently attracted attention when they appeared in a Vogue photoshoot directed by former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. The photoshoot featured the membersâ real names instead of the group name NewJeans, which further increased public interest.
ADOR previously voiced concerns about the group's independent actions. On December 18, the agency stated, "We hope that NewJeans members will continue to communicate with fans through official channels as before. Any entertainment activities conducted through separate accounts could lead to legal issues, and we have communicated these concerns to the artists and their legal representatives."
Previously on December 24, Korean time, ADOR issued a statement stating that the appearance on the show was decided and arranged by the artists themselves without any discussion with the company. ADOR was not informed about this in advance.
During the closing segment of the show "Kim Hyun Jung's News Show", host Kim Hyun Jung teased the group's appearance, announcing that the Christmas special would feature five young girls - Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. Notably, the host called the members by their real names instead of their group name NewJeans, catching the audience's attention.
