The people of the North are currently heavily affected when the flood waters continue to rise day and night, thousands of people have to live in anxiety and fear because of the lurking danger. The cry for help, especially in Yen Bai, makes everyone's heart throb.
Although it was almost midnight, Ms. Quach Hien (Yen Bai City, Yen Bai Province) still couldn't take a nap. Ms. Hien is worried about her sister who is still trapped in the house that has risen to the 2nd floor.
On the evening of September 9, Ms. Hien posted on social networks the status line: "The family of 4 sisters at No. 27, Thanh Nien Street, Hong Ha Ward is still looking forward to being taken out of the flood area by the rescue teams. Thank you!"
The status line also posted three contact phone numbers, including Ms. Hien's sister's number and Ms. Hien's number. However, by 10 p.m., Ms. Hien's sister's number could not be contacted. According to this woman, it may be because the phone has run out of battery.
Ms. Hien said that her sister's name is Hang, who works as a teacher. From the afternoon of September 8, the flood water gradually overflowed into Ms. Hang's house. Due to its proximity to the river, the house was severely flooded.
By the evening of September 9, the whole family had to withdraw to the 2nd floor. "The whole family of 4 people signaled that they needed help, many small boats of people passed by to help, but because there was no specialized ladder to drop from the 2nd floor to the boat, my sister's family could not get off. The entrance to the 1st floor was flooded," she said.
By the evening of September 9, Ms. Hang's family was still trapped in the house. "My sister and I have connected to a few emergency rescue numbers but for some reason we can't connect. I hope that the professional rescue forces of the government and the army will approach and support my sister's family," Ms. Hien pleaded.
In Yen Bai city, on the morning of September 9, the rising water level flooded many houses. Many families near the river overflowed into their houses, flooding close to the roof. Thanh Nien Street, Hong Ha Ward is one of the most heavily flooded areas.
Also on September 9, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vinh posted information calling for help for his family's relatives. "I was worried that the water would continue to rise during the night. I have made many calls to the rescue number but cannot connect, possibly due to weak waves or the functional forces are also overloaded to rescue people," Mr. Son said.
According to Mr. Son, the flood water has risen since the afternoon of September 8. In a passive situation, Mr. Son and his wife did not have time to prepare anything. There are only a few packages of shrimp noodles left in the house.
"The whole area has lost power. In the morning, the house still had gas, so I could cook noodles, but by noon, the gas ran out. My wife and I chew raw shrimp noodles at noon and in the evening. If we continue to be trapped in the flood, the flood water will rise day by day, I don't know what will happen to us," Mr. Son worried.
Mr. Son's wish at this time is to be taken out of the flood area by the rescue force, to a safe shelter for him to stay temporarily for a few days waiting for the water to recede.
A day after the flood in Yen Bai, Ms. Mai (Yen Bai City) felt more and more impatient when her uncle was still in the house near the fast water.
Ms. Mai said that she had previously called the rescue force to help her sister, but because of the fast flowing water, many rescue teams could not reach the house.
Seeing that many people in Yen Bai went online to ask for help from the flood area, Ms. Mai also shared her uncle's phone number and the address of house No. 93, Yet Kieu Street in the hope that someone would come to help.
Mr. Son said that by the evening of September 9, the rising water covered the entire 1st floor. Previously, Mr. Son's family members had evacuated first, he planned to stay to guard the property.
However, when he saw that the water was rising dangerously, Mr. Son decided to leave everything behind to ensure the safety of his life. "The flood is gone," Mr. Son said sadly.
