Lovely Runner is sweet "diabetic", 2 months of premiere have not cooled down

The movie Lovely Runner has been airing on Netflix since August 1. Although the film had previously completed the premiere of 16 episodes for 2 months, the hotness of Lovely Runner has not cooled down, fans have invited each other to "plow" the movie a few more times.

Lovey Runner is based on the novel titled Tomorrow's Best and has been published many times by illustrator Doong Doong in the form of a webtoon. The drama is a youthful and romantic story about fangirl Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon) who accidentally travels back in 2008, she decides at all costs to save her idol Ryu Sun Jae (Byun Woo Seok), who is also the one who helped her overcome the most difficult period in her life.

The main couple in the film, Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok, were praised by netizens for their "boys are beautiful, but girls are beautiful" and natural acting, fully expressing the character. Most of the audience is still fascinated by the couple's sweet "diabetic" chemistry reaction through each eye and gesture on the dreamlike beautiful footage of Lovely Runner.

Initially, the film was not expected too much in terms of success, but when it aired, Lovely Runner "exploded" the internet with a series of great achievements. According to the survey results of Good Corporation Korea, Lovely Runner recorded a discussion score of 42,395 points in the drama category (TV-OTT). The sky-high number in the first week of release made the film's hotness increase by 149%. In the international market, especially Vietnam, Lovely Runner made a big splash, but the "family" told each other to watch Lovely Runner and even gave a specific name to call the male lead Sun Jae "Son Si".

It is known that Netflix has refused to broadcast the film from the beginning. But then, thanks to the great popularity of Lovely Runner after it aired, Netflix defied buying the rights to broadcast even though the film had ended for 2 months. Lovely Runner opens with the story of Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon), a dreamy and beautiful 19-year-old girl who suddenly faces the biggest crisis of her life. She had a serious accident, causing herself to lose her ability to walk. As soon as she was lying on the hospital bed, she decided to kill herself. A serendipitous phone call pulled her out of the abyss of life. That phone call came from Sun Jae (Byeon Woo Seok), a rookie idol. He is doing the challenge of a program, which is to call a random person to socialize and give them gifts. Gifts such as shoes or bicycles from the MC of the show made Im Sol really collapse, because her legs did not allow her to use those gifts. Right on the radio, Im Sol said that he wanted to end everything, until Seon Jae used all his heart to advise her to move on. And of course, that phone call was not accidental.

The film opens 15 years later, in the early days of 2023, when Im Sol is used to a wheelchair and has a strong love for idol Seon Jae, who saved her life that year. In the midst of extremely strong belief in life, especially after a chance encounter with his idol, Im Sol completely collapsed when he heard the news that Seon Jae was self-inflicted. The miracle happened when Seon Jae's watch that Im Sol had auctioned opened up an opportunity for her, making her go back to 15 years ago, when she was still a schoolgirl and Seon Jae had not yet followed the idol career.

Throughout the first 4 episodes, there are images intertwined between the past and the present, but the school scene still accounts for the majority. The audience is immersed in the bright atmosphere by the stories that Im Sol brings. The soul of a 34-year-old woman in the body of a 19-year-old girl inadvertently turned Im Sol from a somewhat timid girl to bold, playful, and even very "crazy". Although it opens with tragic stories and the heroine tries to change that tragedy, Lovely Runner has a bright film color with poetic frames, just like a school garden youth work that brings a cool feeling to viewers.
