Prosecution of overtaking driver who collided with a container truck that prevented 3 mothers and children from surviving

Regarding the serious accident on Cam Lo - La Son highway that caused 3 mothers and children to survive, the authorities of Thua Thien Hue province prosecuted the case and prosecuted the accused against the driver of a 7-seater car.

According to Thanh Nien newspaper, in the afternoon of February 18, the police of H.Phong Dien (Thua Thien - Hue) prosecuted the case and prosecuted the accused against Mr. Phan Dinh Kieu (65 years old, residing in Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province), the driver of a 7-seater car BS 36A-485.67 that caused a particularly serious accident on Cam Lo - La Son highway.

Authorities determined that Mr. Kieu was driving a vehicle overtaking on the right side in violation of regulations, leading to a particularly serious traffic accident. Regarding alcohol and banned substances, Mr. Kieu's test came back negative. After the prosecution, the police are conducting a medical examination and will then arrest Mr. Kieu urgently.

Initial information, around 10 am on the same day, driver Phan Dinh Kieu (SN 1959, residing in Dak Blà, Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province) was driving a car with license plate number 36A- 485.67, traveling on Cam Lo - La Son highway, towards Da Nang - Quang Tri.

At this time, there were also Mr. Phan Dinh Q (SN 1978), Le Thi H (SN 1983) and 2 children, Phan Le Khanh V (SN 2009), Phan Dinh Q (SN 2015), residing in Dong Tan ward, Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province.

When reaching Km 48 200m, in Dong Thai village (Phong My commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province), the car collided with a tractor trailer plate number 63C- 136.59, towing trailer 63R-00227 driven by Mr. Huynh Van D (SN 1974, Long An commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province) who was traveling in the same direction.

After the collision, the car continued to rush into the opposite direction of Quang Tri - Da Nang and collided with car plate number 63H- 005.68 driven by Mr. Lam Van T (SN 1982, resident of Vinh My ward, Chau Doc, An Giang province), traveling on the opposite side of the road in the direction of Quang Tri - Da Nang.

After that, car 36A-485.67 plunged into the cliff on the right side of the one-way road in the direction of Quang Tri - Da Nang. Car 63H-005.68 was driven by a tractor-trailer plate No. 51D-150.90, towing trailer 51R-349.20 driven by Mr. Nguyen Tan Đ (SN 1980, resident of Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province), running in the same direction, behind, the same lane towards Quang Tri - Da Nang.

The accident caused Mr. Q to die on the spot, Mr. V succumbed on the way to the emergency room, Mrs. H died at the hospital. Mr. Q and the rest were mutilated.

At the scene, 4 vehicles were damaged. In which the car was thrown out of the lane, lying on the sound in a state of complete deformation.

According to the tractor-trailer's dashcam recorded before the collision, the car tried to overtake on the right side of the vehicle at a 2-lane/directional road location. However, at the position of merging into a lane/direction of travel, the car crossed to the left, hitting the front of the container truck, leading to a continuous accident.

Currently, the case is being further clarified.

After the accident, leaders of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee came to the scene, directly directed the investigation of the cause, and visited the victim's family.

By about 3 p.m. on February 18, the functional forces of Thua Thien Hue province had completed the scene examination and autopsy. The Cam Lo - La Son expressway is back in circulation.

Sharing the grief and loss with the victim's family, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh and the delegation of provincial departments, departments and agencies went to Hue Central Hospital Base 2 to visit, encourage and support the families of 5 million VND/ill-fated victim, 2 million VND/injured person.
