Prosecution of Hoang Huong, who used to livestream to show off his assets, is now arrested for tax fraud

Hoang Thi Huong and 5 accomplices were prosecuted for serious violations of accounting regulations, the case caused a stir in public opinion, related to the functional food and health business ecosystem.

On October 3, the Ministry of Public Security issued an order to prosecute and detain 6 suspects, including Hoang Thi Huong (38 years old, Phu Tho). Also arrested were two brothers-in-law and three subordinates. They are accused of taking advantage of their accounting function to conceal actual sales, causing serious violations in the business chain established by Ms. Huong.

Investigation documents show that Ms. Huong built an extremely complex multi-tiered system, including 18 businesses, 25 household businesses and using the names of 44 other individuals. The main activity of this network is the trading of dietary supplements, supportive medical products and many other commercial items. This group of subjects is said to have pushed sales through individual business households to legalize books, thereby reducing tax liabilities and falsifying actual business figures.

The authorities revealed that in just over four years (2021-2025), the total amount of money that Hoang Huong did not put into the accounting system has reached 1,800 billion VND. In addition, the under-declaration of VAT was also detected, estimated at VND 2,100 billion. When questioned, Ms. Huong admitted that she only focused on branding and online communication, and that specific financial management issues were entrusted to employees. However, she is still the person most responsible before the law.

Hoang Huong used to be an online sales star, famous for brands such as Hoang Huong Pharmaceutical or Hoang Huong International Dentistry. Her live streams attract millions of views thanks to her unique performance style and valuable gifts, not only because of the quality of the products.

She owns many media channels with a huge following. However, along with the popularity are advertising claims that are considered exaggerated, such as the ability to "cure bad breath from a past life". This led to her business being fined VND 65 million in 2022 for violating food safety regulations.

The scope of Hoang Huong's scandal does not stop at business. Her shocking statements on social media have created a lot of controversy. In 2023, she was harshly criticized by the online community for insulting the flower selling profession in Ha Giang and likened the traditional Mong dish of the Mong people to "pork bran", forcing the local government to offer a job. Previously, in 2020, she also spread false news about the flood situation in Quang Binh.

Ms. Huong often uses ostentatious tricks to create highlights: bragging about money, holding draws that are questionable about transparency, and making shocking statements. At work, she has collaborated with many public figures such as Ho Van Cuong, the couple with an age difference, or Mua Thi Dua. However, most of these links end in noise and controversy.
