Tiktoker 2.5 million followers arrested: criminal case, appraisal results cause outrage

Many people who have ordered consumer goods and functional foods from Hai Sen family expressed confusion when they believed and used products that did not have the effects as advertised.

On the evening of June 16, Ninh Binh Provincial Police arrested Le Van Hai (born in 1995, residing in Van Phu Commune, Nho Quan District) to investigate his behavior related to selling goods on social networks. In addition to Le Van Hai, the authorities also initiated a criminal case and decided to prosecute Tran Dai Phuc, Director of Hai Be Company Limited.

As soon as the information spread, many people who had ordered consumer goods and functional foods from Hai Sen's family expressed confusion at having trusted and used fake products.

Previously, Le Van Hai regularly posted videos selling cosmetics and functional foods, including the health food "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" which received many negative reviews from consumers about the product's uses.

According to the latest information, the appraisal results for the functional indicators of "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" determined that the substances including Vitamin A, Calcium, Vitamin C (the main substances that create the product's effects) only reached less than 70% compared to the announcement. According to the provisions of Decree No. 98/2020 of the Government, the health protection food "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" is counterfeit.

Ninh Binh provincial authorities investigated and clarified that from 2024 to present, Hai Be LLC has sold more than 800,000 products through social media channels Tik Tok shop, Facebook, Shopee "Gia Dinh Hai Sen", "Hai Sen", of which "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" alone sold over 100,000 product boxes.

In particular, at the time of inspection of Hai Be LLC, the police discovered and seized cosmetic and functional food items without full invoices and documents proving their origin.

According to research, Le Van Hai (born in 1995) started posting content on YouTube in May 2021, then built a TikTok channel and attracted millions of followers. Supported by his funny family content, the father of one then switched to selling products under the Hai Sen and Hai Be brands. This has also been the main source of income for Le Van Hai's family for the past 4 years.

Information "What sources of income does Hai Sen earn?", "How rich was Hai Sen before being arrested", ... are being searched by many people on social networks.

Accordingly, the male TikToker earns income from many different sources, most notably advertising, selling and distributing products registered for product declaration by Hai Be LLC located in Thanh Tay village, Van Phu commune, Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh province. Currently, the main sales page of this unit no longer exists.

Hai Sen family livestreams, advertises and sells products released by Hai Be Company Limited, including: Hai Sen deodorant spray for underarm and foot odor, YLE facial cleanser, Hai Sen hair removal cream, Hai Sen exfoliator, Hai Be delicious syrup...

Each product costs from over 70,000 to nearly 200,000 VND, depending on the type and not including shipping fees. Hai Sen started selling these products in 2022, with social media platforms with millions of followers, the number of orders sold must be not small. Currently, the shopping cart on TikTok has been removed, the haibe.vn page used to sell products also no longer exists. However, just counting the e-commerce platform, the most prominent product is the Underarm Deodorant Spray with more than 35,000 sales.

In the clips posted, Hai Sen’s family makes anyone who does online business admire them when they show off the orders that fill the house and the stairs. This proves that Hai Sen’s income from selling these products is not small.

Currently, according to the analysis site SocialBlade, monthly revenue from Hai Sen Family's YouTube channel is around 13,000 USD to 215,000 USD (330 million VND - 5.46 billion VND). However, this is not the final amount "in the pocket" because many other expenses and other side factors must be deducted.

In addition, there was information that Le Van Hai was the director of Hai Be LLC, he contributed 500 million VND equivalent to 50% of the capital to establish the company in March 2022. However, it is currently unclear whether he still holds this position. According to information from the National Business Registration Portal, Hai Be LLC was established on March 21, 2022, the legal representative is Mr. Tran Dai Phuc.

On personal social media platforms, Hai Sen once attracted attention when sharing the results of many years of being a TikToker and selling goods, which was buying a series of cars. In early 2024, Hai Sen's family continued to buy a Lexus 350, with prices ranging from 3.43 billion to 4.72 billion VND depending on the version.
