Artist Cam Thu said she has been in the US for 12 years, has a new family and cannot participate in artistic work in Vietnam. When she was still living with her ex-husband, artist Linh Tam, Cam Thu sometimes had to make sacrifices. She shared that there were invitations for her and Linh Tam to perform in the US, but at that time her daughter was too young, she could not bear to let her go alone, so she accepted to let her husband go alone.

Talking about her relationship with Linh Tam, Cam Thu confided: "Linh Tam and I met in 1980, at that time I was singing at the Song Han troupe (Da Nang), he had just learned how to sing, and I had started my career at the age of 10. Because the troupe lacked actors, he was invited, he had the looks and voice but didn't know how to sing.

We met, got married and lived there. We had a daughter, Linh Ty's older sister. When the daughter was over 1 year old, she passed away. Mr. Tam and I returned to Saigon and performed with many troupes everywhere. In 2005, he and I broke up and lived together for over 20 years."

The female cai luong artist said that when they got together, Linh Tam was the one who took the initiative: "At that time, my parents had a house in Da Nang, so after singing, I went home. He kept following behind and singing 'Remembering the old days when we were strangers, sharing the same path, the first and the last person'. Honestly, back then he was thin and looked a bit weak, so my older brothers and sisters said he probably wasn't straight.

But when I went to sing and practice, I saw that he had a gentle personality. Then he kept following me to sing, so I fell in love. My mother was afraid that he was still playful, so she didn't like it. In the past, I listened to my parents and didn't dare to argue. He had to write a letter to my parents, swearing all sorts of things. At that time, my parents wanted to take me back to Saigon. He told the troupe leader: "If you let Thu quit, I'll quit immediately, but the troupe lacked actors and had too many actresses." The troupe leader had to come down and beg my parents. In the end, my parents felt sorry for me and gave in."

Artist Cam Thu and Linh Tam have 3 children together, of which the daughter died of a stroke.

Talking about her breakup with artist Linh Tam, Cam Thu said: "I was less sad than shocked. We didn't have to fight with each other, we used to be a family that was praised by the press. He went to America, met his wife here, and stayed for 3-4 years before returning. Maybe, our relationship was over.

Okay, he was worried about his new family. As for me, if I don't hate outsiders, why should I hate him? I'm not angry, but I was really shocked. Starting from nothing, I had a house, a car... I didn't calculate everything in the family. That's why I was shocked. After that, we still kept in touch, his wife also called to talk to me."

Artist Cam Thu used her child as a support to overcome the shock. At that time, her daughter was in her teens, and Linh Ty did not know anything about her parents. The artist was sad alone, afraid that her child would be shocked because everyone on the street thought the family was perfect.

When they were still living together, even Cam Thu and Linh Tam's work was closely linked, singing many songs together, so when they were separated, the female artist felt very disappointed. People kept asking "Cam Thu, where is Linh Tam?", she couldn't stand that. From then on, she stopped accepting singing shows and looked for other jobs. Cam Thu studied makeup and opened a makeup shop but had no talent for business. At one point, she switched to working at a bakery. The female artist had to earn a living to take care of her children.

In her twilight years, the former cai luong actress has met a new love. Sharing about her current husband, Cam Thu revealed: "My husband works in real estate, he has a lot of work. I can't go alone, I'm not happy to leave my husband here. If I participate in the arts in Vietnam, it's not just a week or 10 days, I have to go back and forth often, so I said let's wait until everything is stable. Before, his mother was still here, now she's been gone for 2 years. Let's arrange work, if there's anything to go, we'll go together."

Cam Thu's husband is the cai luong artist Phillip Nam. However, when he switched to real estate, he was quite busy. Currently, Cam Thu is not busy but wants to go everywhere together, not willing to go out without leaving her husband at home.

Currently, artist Cam Thu's life is very peaceful. Occasionally, she still sings in the US with her husband, but usually she is a housewife. She revealed that her husband loves reformed opera but only started singing after he came to the US to establish his career and become famous.

Cam Thu's husband has two children from a previous marriage, but they are grown and live separately.
