Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long was born in 1974 in Vinh Long, real name Truong Hoang Kep. His father was a farmer and loved amateur music. Thanks to his father's music, he loved reformed opera from a young age and memorized many plays on the radio. When he grew up, he went to the Central region to visit his older brother - actor Chau Tuan - at the La Nga reformed opera troupe and was assigned the role of a soldier. After singing for a while, he met artist Kim Tu Long and was advised to change his stage name to Kim Tieu Long.

After winning the Tran Huu Trang Promising Award in 2003, the artist became a star in the traditional music field in the 2000s, and won a gold medal at the National Professional Cai Luong Theater Festival in 2004.
