BLACKPINK creates too big a shadow in Vietnam, Kpop artists land and no one has done it

At the end of July 2023, BLACKPINK came to Vietnam to hold a concert as part of the world tour BORN PINK, which can be said to be a "historic" event for Kpop fans. The fact that a Kpop group with global influence came to Vietnam to perform is a dream.

Despite going through many hardships, after the concert ended, BLACKPINK brought back countless impressive achievements. From the resounding success of BLACKPINK's concert at My Dinh Stadium, many investors dreamed of bringing a series of foreign stars to Vietnam to perform, hoping to create great achievements like the 4 girls from YG Entertainment.

When Kpop artists come to Vietnam to hold concerts, they satisfy the desire to see their idols in the most authentic way with the audience of the S-shaped land. Vietnam has an extremely large and enthusiastic Kpop fan community, ready to support their idols by buying tickets, goods and participating in fan activities.

Not long after BLACKPINK's concert, Vietnamese audiences were really overwhelmed by a series of names such as: Park Bom, Baekhyun, HyunA, Jessi,... Not to mention, a series of year-end concerts were also scheduled to be held on a large scale, with the participation of many foreign artists. Although in the history of the Vietnamese entertainment industry, there have been many names performing. However, in the period of 2023 - 2024, the frequency must be called too intense, making many people stunned.

Not to mention, the audience from 2k onwards are mostly the "class" of audience with conditions. Spending money to see their idols is completely within the reach of many young people in this generation, and is no longer a dream through the TV screen like many years ago.

So it is not difficult to understand why investors spend so much effort to recruit foreign stars to perform in Vietnam. No production unit does not dream of the huge numbers that BLACKPINK has reaped when bringing their music to perform in Vietnam.

Vietnam has invested in building many modern stadiums and gymnasiums that meet the standards to organize large-scale concerts. If in Hanoi, My Dinh Stadium is the place where BLACKPINK's concert was successfully held, in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoa Binh Theater or Phu Tho Stadium are also familiar places to Kpop fans through a series of concerts by BaekHyun, Park Bom,...

Although many Kpop artists have come to Vietnam to hold concerts in the past, it seems that no one has been able to overcome the wall created by BLACKPINK.

Touring Data has officially announced the revenue of BLACKPINK's concert in Hanoi after a few months. Specifically, the BORN PINK concert held at My Dinh Stadium (Hanoi) attracted 67,443 spectators for 2 shows (100% sold-out rate) and the total revenue was $13,660,064 (about 333.9 billion VND), higher than Korea.

Although it caused a lot of controversy and encountered many hardships from the time of announcement until the day of the concert, it must be recognized that Vietnamese audiences were willing to spend money on BLACKPINK in this memorable concert. This is also one of the reasons why Kpop entertainment companies are increasingly expanding their market in Vietnam because of the extremely potential audience source.

Most recently, concerts by Park Bom, Baekhyun, Kim Jae Joong,... were held on a rather modest scale and with low recognition. This is completely understandable as the above artists are mostly only familiar to Gen2 audiences, while the young Kpop fan community in Vietnam currently mostly only remembers BTS, BLACKPINK, NewJeans,...

These shows were held on a moderate scale, not too grand. Even the ticket hunting race was not very exciting because there were even some seats that could not be sold out. In fact, besides BLACKPINK, other artists' concerts have not created much impact on Vietnamese audiences or the regional economy, but have only satisfied the visual and audio needs of a part of Kpop fans.
