Dr. Hung confided that this job has been with him for 30 years and has left him with many memories.

He said that unlike other hospitals, the patients treated at the acute men's department here were mostly resistant and did not cooperate with treatment. Being a special specialty, the medical team and doctors here face more difficulties, and are even attacked by patients many times.

"I once treated a patient from Duc Tho district. When he was seriously ill in the hospital, he resisted, did not cooperate, ran away, and had to be chained to give him medicine. One time, the chain slipped. This patient whipped the chain at my face, almost hitting my eye" - Dr. Hung said.

Another memorable time in life, when Dr. Hung had just entered the hospital room to examine him, suddenly a male patient from Dai Nai ward (Ha Tinh city) threw a bucket of feces on his head, causing him to choke and have to go take a shower. wash immediately.

During his 30 years in the profession, Mr. Hung has also witnessed many times the medical team and male acute department doctors being hit by patients. It is not uncommon for doctors to have their shirts torn off and threatened by patients. In some cases, the hospital had to rely on the intervention of the police to control the patient.

Even though he continuously encountered many difficult situations, Dr. Nguyen Tien Hung still remained devoted and loved his profession. He said that once a doctor accepts to enter this profession, he must be brave and have a lot of love for patients.

"The job of caring for and treating mentally ill patients is very difficult, but we determine that we must be dedicated and responsible to treat patients with the view that everyone chooses the easy work, and the hard work will be reserved for everyone. Even so, Dr. Hung still has concerns about the income of the medical team and the lack of human resources.

He said that the men's acute department currently lacks doctors and nurses, while attracting human resources to work is difficult. On the contrary, the number of doctors and nurses retiring or transferring jobs every year still occurs.

According to doctor Nguyen Van Manh - deputy director of Ha Tinh Mental Hospital, the hospital is currently facing many difficulties in both facilities and human resources. For example, the men's acute care department was originally only reserved for this department, but now the facilities here are arranged into 3 departments, including men's acute care; Children's rehabilitation department and area to determine the status of addicts. This has somewhat limited space, affecting different departments in the medical examination and treatment process on the same campus.

According to the project, Ha Tinh Mental Hospital has 94 officers and employees, but currently only 64 people are assigned. Of the 12 doctors, only 6 have a certificate to practice psychiatry.

The hospital is currently assigned nearly 56% autonomy, while technical services are rarely used by patients, due to many reasons, leading to difficulties in hospital autonomy.

One of the objective factors affecting screening and medical examination and treatment is that there is still stigma and inferiority complex, leading to many people showing signs of mental illness but their families hide it and not take them to the hospital for examination. promptly, leading to the patient having a serious illness and attacking others.

In the coming time, Ha Tinh Mental Hospital will organize propaganda seminars to help people better understand information about mental health disorders, thereby hoping that people will no longer have stigma and detect it early.
