Kera vegetable candy case: 1 TikToker once turned on fans to 'hide the wind', was hunted down for a reason?

The Kera vegetable candy scanda.l (the product is accuse.d of containing more than 33% Sorbitol - a laxative, instead of fiber as advertised), has caused Quang Linh Vlogs and Hang Du Muc and a number of related people to be prosecuted.

Some influential people on social networks who used to protect this product quickly deleted the post, corrected it, and apologized. Meanwhile, the attitude of a TikToker named Pharmacist Tien made the public wonder: "Is this person challenging public opinion and the law?".

Pharmacist Tien, with a background as a bachelor's degree from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, once built the image of a knowledgeable TikToker, specializing in sharing easy-to-understand medical information. Notably, from March 7 to March 13, this person posted many videos analyzing and protecting Kera candy.

Typically, the video posted on March 7, this person said about Kera candy as follows: "This is a simple product that adds fiber, vegetable powders... The precious thing about these powders is that they are made from fresh vegetables." In other videos, this person said that the diarrhe.a after using Kera candy was caused by Inulin - a type of soluble fiber and said that the problem only lies in the false advertising of Sister Rot Company (CER Group), but the product is not harmful.

On April 6, Quang Linh Vlogs and Hang Du Mu were arrested and detained. The authorities announced the test results, the product has the main ingredient is Sorbitol, not Inulin. In this context, many TikTokers who once defended Kera candy deleted the video and admitted their mistake.

On the contrary, Pharmacist Tien posted a few brief lines on TikTok, with the idea: "Whoever is wrong, that person must be responsible before the law". Controversial videos, including a video defending Kera candy posted on March 7, quickly reached a "huge" reach, reaching more than 1.5 million views. Until now (7-4), these videos are still on his channel, without an apology or clear explanation.

With more than half a million followers on TikTok, Pharmacist Tien's videos have a significant influence. This raises concerns that these videos may continue to shape viewers' perceptions, especially those who do not know the information about the Kera candy scanda.l that this is a safe or beneficial product as originally advertised.

Even though the product has been expose.d, these videos can still contribute to maintaining curiosity or shopping demand from a part of consumers who have not updated with new information. Or can the consumer think that the product has been "vindicated" by a knowledgeable person?

The online community could not hide their frustration. The comments under Pharmacist Tien's video are full of requests to remove false content, even calling for a boycott. Many people ask, is the challenge of this social media influencer accidental or intentional?

On the other hand, the investigating agency alleges that many people bought Kera vegetable candy because they believed that it had a good function for digestion and laxatives, as advertised. But in fact, the laxative comes from sorbitol - a form of sweetened sugar alcohol.

C01 determined that 135,000 products have been consumed with more than 30,000 customers. Since then, enterprises have collected over 17 billion VND.

Colonel Cuong said that Miss Thuy Tien is being verified for her involvement in advertising Kera candy. Previously, she was issued a decision by the Dak Lak Provincial Police in the early stages of investigating the case to suspend her exit, from March 15 to May 15. In addition, Thuy Tien was administratively fined 25 million VND for failing to clearly inform consumers about being sponsored when providing product information on social networking platforms.

Currently, Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (i.e. Hang Du Muc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CER) and Pham Quang Linh (i.e. Quang Linh Vlogs, member of the Board of Directors) and Le Tuan Linh (Director, legal representative of CER), Le Thanh Cong (member of the Board of Directors) were prosecuted and detained by C01 to investigate the crime of deceiving customers, according to Article 193 of the Criminal Code.

Before being arrested, director Le Tuan Linh once committed that raw materials were purchased from areas in Lam Dong, Dak Lak, and Binh Thuan, "ensuring quality and clear origin".
