Recently, the Bar Association of Ho Chi Minh City has issued a notice to accept the case of Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang's complaint against LS - journalist Dang Thi Han Ni (pen name Han Ni, currently a reporter for Saigon Giai Phong newspaper. ). Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has transferred the contents of Ms. Hang's complaint to the Reward and Disciplinary Council (under the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union) for consideration and handling.

In the complaint, Ms. Phuong Hang asked the Vietnam Bar Federation to verify that Ms. Han Ni registered to practice law or not; Is it legal for Ms. Han Ni to both work as a journalist and as a lawyer.

In this regard, Ms. Han Ni said that: According to Point b, Clause 4, Article 17 of the Law on Lawyers, "... cadres, civil servants, public employees ..." are not granted a law practice certificate. Meanwhile, Ms. Han Ni is currently working for Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper under an indefinite-term labor contract (not an official), so it is legal for her to both work as a journalist and as a lawyer.

It is known that the Saigon Giai Phong newspaper has sent an official letter to the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union stating that Ms. Han Ni has worked for the newspaper since 2003 until now under an indefinite term labor contract.
