Due to the influence of Typhoon Talim, heavy rain and thunderstorms occurred on the afternoon of July 17, causing a series of trees to be uprooted and many billboards blown up in many places in Ho Chi Minh City and the South.

On the afternoon of July 17, in Ho Chi Minh City, during heavy rain, a phoenix tree nearly 15 m high suddenly uprooted, blocking Vo Thi Thanks lane, Tan Thuan Dong ward, district 7. At 7:00 am on July 18, Typhoon Talim was 100km from Mong Cai (Quang Ninh), with the strongest wind of 102 km/h, level 10, expected to enter the Vietnam - China border in 4 hours. At 4 p.m., the center of the storm in the northeast of the North, the wind reduced to level 7 and weakened into a tropical depression. The tropical depression then continued to go deep into the northern mountains and dissipated early on July 19.

Today, three airports directly and indirectly affected by Typhoon Talim, Van Don (Quang Ninh), Cat Bi (Hai Phong) and Noi Bai (Hanoi) have closed. The call for boats and people to evacuate in the coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Thai Binh has been basically completed. Localities are on standby to prevent rain after storms that may cause flooding, landslides, and affect key dikes.

Typhoon Talim formed on the tropical convergence band in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, after entering the East Sea mainly in the northwest direction, quickly increased in intensity, reaching a maximum of 133 km/h (level 12) on May 17/ 7. After Talim, there are likely to be 2-3 storms forming from this convergence, one of which will enter the East Sea in the next 4-6 days.
