"My grandparents in the past were Cai Luong singers, gave birth to my sisters in the singing troupe, all of them followed their profession. Later on, when they returned to Saigon, they went to school and sang at night, their profession passed down from father to son: singing. Ho Quang, singing boi, I know it all, but over the past ten years, cai luong has no land to live, so I switched to comedy.

I have more than 10 years of writing scripts, also worked as a deputy in charge of art, know how to stage. When I first returned to Saigon, I didn't have a household registration, so I couldn't join the station's payroll, going to work every day. After a while, I found it too crowded, so I stopped doing comedy. I can write cai luong, I can write comedy scripts. Hoai Linh and Kieu Oanh also performed skits I wrote," the male artist once shared.

As MC Dai Nghia once exclaimed: "When an artist is in glory, thousands of people cheer, thousands of people admire, but in a moment, the aura disappears, leaving only darkness burying a star... ". That bitter self-deprecation is the heart of many artists. Many years of working, happy with each role, with the applause of the audience, but at the end of life, many people live quietly, lonely, sick and poor. Artist Vu Quang is also such a case...

In 2019, while preparing to go to the province to perform, artist Vu Quang suddenly found himself staggered, his feet felt like he had no legs, when he climbed into the car, he slipped down, unable to control his legs. . After that, the male artist went to the hospital to be examined and was told that he had a mild stroke, the blood did not go to his brain, nor his legs, so he had to be hospitalized for treatment.

Thanks to early detection, after more than 1 month of treatment, artist Vu Quang was discharged home. But because of the burden of making a living, artist Vu Quang still accepted the show to perform. Although he had limited travel to the province and only received shows near and around the city, the disease returned without knowing it.

This time, he lived in a degraded dormitory room of only about 15 square meters, located deep in the old dormitory, had to go through a "tunnel" nearly ten meters long, narrow, dark and humid. New landmark to the entrance to the stairs. Because of such living conditions, artist Vu Quang cannot do physical therapy for his legs. During the day he went to acupuncture, at night he performed.

He thought that doing so would soon recover his legs, but after a week of acupuncture, his legs could no longer walk. "I can only drag, my legs are numb, I know but I can't move. Bathing and cleaning all have to rely on my brother-in-law and nephew to help", artist Vu Quang sadly confided.

Artist Vu Quang did not have a wife and children, at that time, he lived with his wife and brother, protecting each other. However, the house is not always full of people. Because of his livelihood, food, and money, sometimes only artist Vu Quang is at home, wanting to go to the toilet, he drags himself to the toilet. There were also times when he fell and bruised his whole body, but he still gritted his teeth and didn't cry.

In fact, not only has his legs paralyzed, artist Vu Quang also suffers from many old age diseases: spondylolisthesis, bone pain, every time he sits up or lies down, it is very painful. "The peculiarity of this profession is that we eat and sleep erratically, so we artists are not as healthy as other people, and we get sick a lot in old age. I also have bronchitis. Even if I go for a walk late at night, I cough so much that I don't even know what to do. At that time, I thought I had tuberculosis, but when I went to the doctor, I found out that I didn't. I had bronchial stenosis, couldn't breathe, so I was tired," the old male artist once confided.

At the beginning of 2023, Phi Phung and the group of Ngu Long Travels visited comedian Vu Quang. At the age of U70, his health is limited, but artist Vu Quang is still sharp and has a good memory. The actor quickly recognized Phi Phung and Thuy Muoi because they had time to accompany each other at many stages. The voice of the play "Hero of the coal sale" is very lively, excitedly recounting many interesting memories when performing in the heyday.

It is known that at present, he no longer lives at his relative's house but has moved to Ngoc Quang Vihara (District 8). This place is home to more than 60 elderly people who are sick and living alone. Every month, his family pays about 3 million VND to support the vihara to take care of accommodation and food.

At the age of U70, artist Vu Quang's legs were completely paralyzed, unable to walk after a stroke in 2019. All his activities are supported by the staff in the monastery.

Before that, the male artist had a period of treatment in Ben Tre province, but his sister advised him to go to Saigon for convenience. Every day, he is supported with 3 meals and personal activities. "My younger brother does not visit from time to time. He is also an artist, mainly going to sing adoration to the family for a living," he shared.

Despite being so ill, he did not dare to tell his colleagues. Whoever asked him laughed and said it was okay. Asked why he didn't let his colleagues know, artist Vu Quang said: "There are also some supportive colleagues like Viet Huong, Kim Tu Long... I am grateful for that sentiment, but my disease cannot be cured. No matter how much money I have, I'm afraid to disturb everyone. Even when I work, it's hard for me to make money. I'm just sad that I can't work with my legs like this, my health like this."
