The case of a teacher asking for money to buy a laptop: The Department of Education and Training intervenes, one haunting statement

The incident of a primary school teacher asking her parents for money to buy a personal laptop has caused a stir in public opinion in recent days. Recently, the Department of Education and Training has officially responded.

On the morning of September 29, speaking with Tien Phong, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Department had received information that the homeroom teacher of a 4th grade class at CD Primary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) asked parents for financial support to buy a laptop.

The unit has also requested the Department of Education and Training of District 1 to report in more detail. "Our view is that teachers' misconduct must be strictly handled," said Mr. Quoc.

Previously, as Tien Phong reported, Ms. TPH (homeroom teacher of a 4th grade class at CD Primary School) asked for financial support to buy a laptop but did not receive the consensus of all parents.

Notably, this teacher later refused to accept support but informed parents that she would not prepare review outlines for students. According to some parents, in the following school days, Ms. H. only let their children watch YouTube and some TV solutions to take notes.

At the meeting between parents and the school on September 24, Ms. H. admitted her mistake in persuading parents of students to equip her with laptops as well as keeping the common fund. The female teacher also apologized to the school leaders, parents of the students in her homeroom class and promised to make amends.

Although Ms. H. admitted her mistake and promised to correct it, many parents attending the meeting still did not agree to let this teacher continue teaching and wanted to change their children's class.

The school representative confirmed that they had disciplined and reminded teachers in general about not mobilizing funds from the Parents' Association to equip themselves with teaching equipment. At the same time, teachers are not allowed to directly manage and use this money.

Currently, Ms. TPH has been temporarily suspended from teaching at the request of the District Department of Education and Training. The school will sign a contract with an outside teacher to ensure that the students' learning is not interrupted.

Discussing the above incident, the question that scares parents the most is "which child's parent?" Many people are outraged when parents pay for their children to go to school, yet a teacher who has a job and a salary right at a school in the center of Ho Chi Minh City brazenly asks parents for money to buy a laptop.
Ms. TPH announced that she would not collect the money, but because her laptop was lost, she asked for support from her parents. Then she started to give the price of the personal computer she needed to buy. "I will buy the laptop, I will let you know the remaining amount. And I will ask for this laptop too, parents."

"She said she would take a black machine for 11 million to run data quickly, parents support her with 6 million, she will compensate with 5 million. She thanks parents"... are messages from Ms. H informing about asking parents for money to buy a laptop.

It is worth mentioning that the incident did not stop at a teacher "asking" for money from parents to buy a laptop, but the most terrible thing was that one side was asking and the other side, if they did not give it, would not be at peace. She was accused of asking for money to buy personal items, but she knew she had the "upper hand" and clearly showed it through her words and exchanges.

When there are parents who disagree with the "agree" or "disagree" vote she created, she is the one asking but she asks the person who disagrees "whose child are you?".

She asked for money from the parents, but from the beginning to the end, she directed and acted on her own, arranged and closed the deal herself. The female teacher's behavior and attitude in this incident are the clearest manifestation of the two words "voluntary" in schools that have long been a source of pain.

It is called support, voluntary, but if parents oppose, do not support, they will be named immediately. And the name calling here is always associated with the phrase "parents of which student". This has hit the fear of parents because if they do not volunteer, their children will receive "special care".
