Regarding the case of a 19-year-old girl being harmed in a rented room in Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City, today (December 14), sources of information said that suspect Nguyen Hoang Anh (33 years old, from Vinh Long) committed suicide in Tra On district, Vinh Long province, after fleeing from Ho Chi Minh City to the West.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department has received the transfer of Hoang Anh's body from Vinh Long Province Police to assist in the investigation. The suspect attacked DTNH (born in 2005, his brother-in-law) at a rented room in alley 78 on Nguyen Van Khoi Street, Ward 11, Go Vap District on the night of December 13 and then used the victim's motorbike to escape.

H.'s silver-gray Honda Lead was found in a supermarket parking lot in Go Vap District. Authorities initially determined that the cause of the incident was related to a personal conflict between the suspect and the victim. Ho Chi Minh City Police are continuing to clarify related details to complete the case file.

According to Dan Tri newspaper, present at the place where the body was identified, Mr. Duong Van D. (53 years old, the victim's father) said that in the afternoon of the same day, after finishing the exam, his daughter called him to inform him that she had one last exam session on Sunday, then would return to her hometown.

"My daughter said that she actually took the exam yesterday, but the school changed the schedule so she took the exam today, tomorrow she has a day off, the day after tomorrow she will take the last exam and then go back to her hometown. H. promised to call me to pick her up when she gets there. But that evening, the police called to tell her the news, my wife fainted when she heard the terrible news," said Mr. D.

Mr. D. commented that his son-in-law, Nguyen Hoang Anh, is a gentle person, does not have the habit of drinking and works very hard. When he was living in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoang Anh worked at a bank and then moved to work in the telecommunications sector.

Ms. Kim Phuong (29 years old, the victim's neighbor), told Dan Tri newspaper that on that evening, when she returned from work, she saw many police officers in the alley and was shocked to hear that H. had been harmed. "She is very gentle, polite, cute and very studious. One day, I and some sisters in the boarding house invited H. to go out for milk tea, but H. said she was studying for an exam and was determined to get a scholarship, so we made an appointment for another time," Ms. Phuong said.

It is known that H. is a second-year student at a university in Ho Chi Minh City. The boarding house where H. was murdered used to be the residence of Hoang Anh and H.'s sister in 2023. The young girl moved in with her brother and sister after enrolling in school. After a while, the boarding house was transferred to H. by the couple when they decided to move to Tra Vinh to live.

A week before the murder, the family did not know where Hoang Anh had gone, but on the afternoon of December 13, he visited the old motel and the murder was discovered. People reported to the police when they saw the 19-year-old girl lying in the bathroom with many wounds on her body. Images recorded from security cameras show that on the evening of December 13, Nguyen Hoang Anh walked to his brother-in-law's rented room and then left the scene on the female student's Honda Lead, so the police quickly organized a search.

The detectives split into many branches to check for clues around the area and discovered that Hoang Anh had previously parked his car in the area of Lang Hoa Park - Go Vap and then took a motorbike taxi to a motel to meet H. After attacking his brother-in-law, he took the victim's car to Vinh Long, parked it at a shopping mall, then took a bus to Tra On district to rent a motel and commit suicide.
