Witnesses told the case of 5 people who were hit by a falling tree at CV Tao Dan, obsessed, numb in limbs

Until more than 10 am on August 9, the District 1 Police were still coordinating with the professional units of the Ho Chi Minh City Police to examine the scene of the falling tree branch that caused 5 casualties in Tao Dan Park (on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street, District 1).

Many people, especially elderly aunts near the park, are still shocked after the incident. Ms. Huyen (a nearby sports store) said that when the branch fell, there was a loud noise. She heard it and ran out to see the situation and found 5 people lying on the ground.

"It was terrifying, I was also scared at that time because I also saw a large tree branch falling on the Independence Palace before, but the tree was dry. On this side, the branches that fell were still fresh. Because I usually go to the gym and still look up and see that there are no dry branches. I was very surprised because the branches were all fresh, but for some reason they fell. When I went out to see 5 people lying motionless, then the emergency came to me," Ms. Huyen said.

According to Ms. Huyen, among the 5 victims who were crushed by a broken tree, 2 people died (1 male, 1 female) were all elderly. "Up to now, I am still shaking, numb, obsessed. I usually go to exercise in this area. I'm still in the store today, and if I walk out, I'm probably the one lying there. I hope the injured survive and offer condolences to the families of the victims who died," she shared.

Witnessing the tragic incident, Ms. Do Thi Thu (a nearby resident) said: "When I heard a loud noise, I ran to see 5 people lying paralyzed, everyone panicked." According to Ms. Thu, she is one of the nearby residents who often get up early to go to Tao Dan park to exercise. When the incident happened, everyone shouted for help and then called an ambulance. The scene haunted her.

Information from the 115 People's Hospital said that the victim injured in the fall of the tree branch was Ms. Le Ngoc Son (born in 1962). Currently, the patient is awake, with a cranial subsidence wound, a diagnosis of right epidural hematoma, a brain injury, and the victim is undergoing emergency surgery at the Department of Neurosurgery.

The 2nd injured victim is Ms. Quach Kim Xuan (born in 1955), currently a provincial patient, numbness - weakness of 4/5 muscle limbs, with C1 dislocation, is being monitored at the hospital. The other victim is being treated at Saigon General Hospital.

A representative of Ho Chi Minh City Green Park Co., Ltd. said that Ho Chi Minh City has more than 8,000 ancient trees, heritage trees and more than 150,000 trees on the roads, most of which are type 3 trees, 80-100 years old.

Earlier, at about 7 o'clock on the same day, an ancient tree branch in Tao Dan park suddenly fell to the ground and hit a group of elderly people who were walking and exercising. Detecting the incident, nearby residents shouted for emergency and functional forces.

Received a report that the police came to blockade and conduct an examination. At the scene, 2 people died on the spot, 3 other injured people were taken to the emergency room later. Currently, the case is still being investigated and clarified.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Technical Infrastructure Management Center (the management unit of Tao Dan Park) said that the broken branches of the Dau family, classified 3 (large trees), fell from a height of about 25m.
