Nunes then told the deceased man: " If you're not well, I'll take you to the hospital." The bank employee became suspicious when the man's head kept tilting back, so he called the police. Nunes was arrested on the spot and charged with fraud. He was taken to the morgue.

"She knew he was dead. He had been dead for at least two hours," police investigator Fabio Luiz Souza told news program Bom Dia Rio on April 17.

Nunes is said to have taken the body of 68-year-old Paulo Roberto Braga in a wheelchair to a bank in Bangu, a neighborhood in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. She tried to persuade the man to sign the loan documents by holding the man's head and hands.

The police investigation later revealed surveillance footage showed Nunes and a driver helping Mr. Braga out of the car in a parking lot near the bank. Mr. Braga did not react at all in the video.
