People's Artist Hoang Dung: "National father" of many generations of actors, devoted half of his life to the Vietnamese screen

With more than 40 years in the profession, People's Artist Hoang Dung has achieved many successes thanks to his talent, mind and especially his masterful acting ability. That is why People's Artist Hoang Dung is loved by the audience and nicknamed "Vietnamese movie tycoon".

Hoang Dung real name is Hoang Tien Dung, born in 1956 in Hanoi, is an actor active in the fields of drama, television and film. With art, he has an "underground predestined relationship". The way he came to art was also natural. After waiting for the results of the university entrance exam, he followed his friends in the neighborhood to take the entrance exam to Hanoi College of Art and unexpectedly passed. Hoang Dung considered it as a destiny and the chance to come to art also came to the student that day from here.

Hoang Dung graduated from Hanoi College of Arts in 1978 and then returned to work at the Hanoi Drama Troupe. In 1993, the Hanoi Opera Troupe was upgraded to the Hanoi Drama Theater and granted the Cong Nhan Theater.

He held the position of Deputy Director of Hanoi Drama Theater since 2002, held the position of Director of Hanoi Drama Theater from December 2007 until his retirement in January 2017. He was awarded the title of People's Artist in 2007.

He is also the Vice Chairman and member of the Art Council of the Hanoi Artists Association, and a member of the Executive Committee and the Art Council of the Vietnam Theater Artists Association. People's Artist Hoang Dung teaches at the University of Theater and Film (Hanoi).

People's Artist Hoang Dung is also the teacher of many famous stage and television actors such as Viet Anh, Hong Dang, Dieu Huong, Thanh Huong...and many mature actors from the TV actor class of Vietnam. VFC.

People's Artist Hoang Dung's wife does not work in the field of art, so she rarely appears in public. She was a kindergarten teacher. After getting married, life was too difficult, her salary was only half of the monthly childcare deposit, so she quit her job to take care of her children.

After that, even though Hoang Dung prospered in his career, his salary was still three piles and three dong, the family was still in need and difficult. She decided to open a small clothing store and quietly cultivate the economy to give her husband peace of mind.

Hoang Dung still said, without his wife, there would certainly not be a People's Artist Hoang Dung as it is now. He always feels very fortunate that his wife not only supports but also follows him on his artistic path.

Even when he has held the role of troupe leader and has been awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, Hoang Dung is still very willing to spend his free time looking after the shop and helping his wife.

When he became the Director of the Drama Theater, busy with the office, he still did not forget the family dinner. Even if he went to dinner with his partner, went to a party with his brothers, as long as his wife had a meal, he was ready to go home to eat another dinner to make his wife happy.

Retired, although still performing and still participating in the arts, People's Artist Hoang Dung spends a lot of time with his family, and makes up for his wife's previous difficult days.

The romance in his "old age" for his wife is that from time to time, the husband and wife take each other to travel, and visit beautiful scenes in the country.

From December 2020, the artist suffered from pain from shoulder to waist, unable to move his legs. Initially, he thought that spinal disease should be subjective, until surgery, the tumor was discovered.

After a period of fighting blood cancer, on February 14, 2021, People's Artist Hoang Dung passed away at the age of 65 in the mourning of friends, colleagues and the audience. However, the image of an artist who dedicates his life to art is always remembered by everyone.
