Vietnamese movie uses hot scenes to compete with Tran Thanh's MAI, the ending is surprising

Recently, Vietnamese films have increasingly featured sensitive scenes that make viewers uncomfortable. Some works have even been criticized by audiences for being abusive and lacking artistic intent.

In recent years, Vietnamese cinema has made significant progress. Many well-invested works have been released, but there are still many films that use offensive hot scenes to attract audiences. However, when the core issue is that the quality of the content does not meet the requirements, these films all fail miserably.

The 2024 Tet film season is described as a "race" of hot scenes. However, while "Mai" achieved great success, "Tra" by director Le Hoang, despite starring two famous faces, Viet Huong and Truong Minh Quoc Thai, still fell into a humiliating situation.

"Tea" exploits the issue of adultery, telling the story of a middle-aged man who has an illicit relationship with a young girl, causing his wife to become extremely jealous. With such a topic, the appearance of 18+ scenes is not strange. However, the film uses them indiscriminately, without artistic intention, making the audience "hot-eyed".

More importantly, the number of hot scenes that the audience actually had to witness was after 70% was cut. Despite the risk of being counterproductive to attract viewers to the theater, in the end, the revenue of "Tra" only reached 1.6 billion VND and of course, it was a heavy loss.

Sharing the same fate as "Tra" is "B4S: Before the Love Affair". If the cast of "Tra" has two national actors, "B4S: Before the Love Affair" is expected to attract young audiences thanks to familiar faces such as Khanh Van, Ton Kinh Lam and Jun Vu.

The film is a romantic comedy, telling about the things that come before TD, which are love, trust and empathy. After all, TD can help a relationship flourish, but only love and trust can make love last. Three stories, three couples with the problems of modern dating life promise to take the audience on an emotional roller coaster.

Right from the promotional stage, "B4S: Before Love" used the "18+" trick to attract attention. In the movie trailer, hot scenes are overwhelming. Not only that, TD is also present in the characters' dialogue with high frequency. When the movie is released, for audiences who did not go to the theater, the image they remember most is probably Jun Vu in sexy lingerie.

The revenue of "B4S: Before Love" was less than 4 billion VND. This proves that Vietnamese audiences are now much more demanding about the quality of movies. Therefore, they will not spend money to go to the cinema just because they use hot scenes as bait.

In addition to the two works mentioned above, "Hotgirl Squad" is the film that is receiving the most criticism at the moment. In the film poster, the audience sees the appearance of the late People's Artist Hoang Dung. However, in reality, he only appears as a supporting actor.

After a few days in theaters, "Hotgirl Squad" received many negative reviews and was considered a work with a terrible script, sloppy production, and showing as much skin as possible. In any situation, the female assassins all wore skimpy clothes, causing the audience to question the thinking of the film's producers.

The late People's Artist Hoang Dung's performance in the film was very good, but it could not become a "lifebuoy" to help "Hotgirl Squad" escape rock bottom revenue. According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, the film only earned nearly 26 million VND. Last weekend, it ranked 15th on the chart and it will almost certainly be the number one movie disaster in 2024.

"Hotgirl Squad" is about 6 girls Yi Yung, Hi Ne, Sung Mi, Belana, Keo Suvan and Saleha. They were raised by a man named Hac Vo Dao, becoming assassins. After a mission, they got into trouble with the boss Sakun. With the help of an assassin named Chien, they rose up against Sakun, freeing the children he kidnapped.
