Many strange stories in the past few days related to mutual aid during the flood have stirred up the internet. Recently, a woman accidentally discovered a gold ring in donated clothes.
To support the people affected by storm No. 3, many individuals and groups have organized donations of money and goods to send to the northern provinces. Many humane and touching stories have been shared widely on social networks.
Recently, netizens have paid attention to a clip of a woman discovering a gold ring in relief clothing. Specifically, Ms. Dang Thi Yen (residing in Doan Hung district, Phu Tho province) shared on her personal page: "Whoever is the owner of the gold ring above, please meet Yen in zone 2, Ca Dinh commune or the village chief of zone 2. We would like to return it."
She also shared a photo of the gold ring carefully placed in a box with a guarantee paper from a famous gold shop in Phu Tho. The story was quickly shared on social media platforms, and viral clips about the incident also received nearly 8 million views.
Below the shared posts, netizens showered compliments on the kindness of Ms. Yen and those present, as well as hoping that the ring would soon return to its owner.
On September 15, Ms. Yen confirmed the incident. The woman said that after the ring was handed over to the police by her and the head of village 2 (Ca Dinh commune), it was returned to its owner. "Currently, our team has reached the people in the areas affected by floods and landslides and is providing support to everyone," the woman added.
Major Le Ngoc Hai, Chief of Ca Dinh Commune Police, Doan Hung District (Phu Tho) confirmed that there was an incident where people discovered a gold ring when receiving relief donations to give to Lao Cai people. The unit has made a record to verify and find the owner of the ring to return it.
"A day later, we found the owner in a neighboring commune and proceeded to return it. When people discovered it, it was during the time of sorting donated items, not yet transported. The ring was a couple's wedding ring, and it was inconvenient to wear it on their hands because they were farmers. They put it in a box and put it in their jacket, but after a long time, they forgot about it," Hai informed.
The commune police chief appreciated the people's actions in returning the ring and not appropriating it. "I think the people's actions were very good when they enthusiastically donated to support the flood victims, seeing the valuable item, not being greedy, honestly returning it," Hai expressed.
Similar to the story in Phu Tho, in Binh Duong, someone also found a gold necklace while sorting through donated items. After verifying and investigating, it was discovered that the necklace belonged to a woman named Thanh Ha. Ms. Ha said: "Honestly, at that time, the water was boiling, I could not remember the necklace. I quickly gathered blankets and clothes to quickly provide relief to people in the North who were affected by floods without knowing that the gold necklace had fallen out and mixed in. Fortunately, as soon as it was discovered, the charity group contacted me to return it. I was very touched and grateful."
Not only that, on September 16, Ms. Nam, 43 years old, in Bac Ngam village, Xuan Quang commune, Bao Thang district discovered a small cloth bag containing some jewelry mixed in a box of books and clothes while she and 5 other people were sorting relief and charity goods.
Guessing that this was valuable, Ms. Nam reported it to the village police officer and contacted the head of the Da Nang delegation - the unit that had just delivered the relief boxes - hoping to find the owner of the jewelry bag.
Through the notebook in the relief box, which had the names, grades and schools of two students in Da Nang, the group contacted the school board and contacted the parents of the students. Through discussion and verification of information, this person said that the jewelry could have been left by a relative while packing the relief items. On the afternoon of September 17, Ms. Thao's group confirmed that the owner of the bag was Ms. Phan Thi Dao, 47 years old, in Ngu Hanh Son district, Da Nang city.
