Accordingly, on an online forum, an image of a blue-headed duck appeared along with a table of awards for beauty queens, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up.

At first, many people thought this was a homemade article, but it turns out the duck beauty contest is real!

It is known that the People's Committee of That Khe town (Trang Dinh district, Lang Son province) is the organization that organizes the beauty duck contest for ducks in its area. The participating ducks must all be of the blue-headed duck breed and undergo a "competition" to find the duck that possesses the standards required by the Organizing Committee.

According to Mr. Ha Van Hon - Vice Chairman of Chi Minh Commune People's Committee, the ducks selected for the contest are all of the best duck breeds with a weight of over 3 kg, having undergone at least 6 months of nurturing. The duck's head is iridescent green, the feathers are smooth, the feather color is even and beautiful.

The organizers will select the most beautiful ducks to receive the Miss Duck award with an amount of 35 million VND, the 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up will receive 10 million VND and 6 million VND respectively. The total amount collected will be used to carry out social security work.

As for the duck that won the beauty queen prize, it belongs to the local duck breed. After being auctioned for 35 million VND, the duck was brought back as a souvenir or slaughtered.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Miss Duck Contest is part of the program to promote "The essence of That Khe roasted duck, local cuisine and specialty products" on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of That Khe Liberation Day. The contest aims to introduce and maintain the "brand" of blue-headed duck, honoring duck farmers in Trang Dinh district. After launching, the contest attracted the participation of 21 communes and towns in the area.

To be able to sit as a judge in the competition, members must undergo training sessions and be certified by the World Cat Federation.

The "beauty" of the participating cats is evaluated according to the standards of the World Cat Federation. For example, British Shorthair cats must have medium-muscled legs, short and soft fur like carpet, have large round eyes, and a cat nose with no bends. The Mainecoon cat is an American cat breed and the heaviest in the world. These are cats that must have quite impressive faces with noses and mouths that look like box shapes arranged together.
