Originally born as boys, but with the souls of girls, Nguyen Van Nga and Nguyen Van Chau decided to go to Thailand to change gender. The most touching thing was the old father who saw him off to the airport security gate.
Sister Hai's real name is Nguyen Van Nga, and her younger sister calls herself Sister Ba's real name Nguyen Van Chau. They are living with their parents in Binh Chanh district (HCMC). When I was young, my parents often called them Cu Li and Cu Ty.
Recently, sharing on Binh Duong Unique channel, Ms. Hai and Ms. Ba shared their feelings about the long time they spent working together and striving to live as themselves. Every path to success has thorns, they have had to try very hard in their journey to prove themselves to family, friends and society.
It is known that the names of the two brothers contain the father's wish to live in poverty, hoping that these children will have a life of "jewels and treasures".
No one expected that his father's two sons would later grow up and change their gender to become girls.
The Chau sisters realized their differences from a young age. Although they have the appearance of boys, the two sisters like to wear dresses, play with dolls, and often secretly use their mother's lipstick to do each other's makeup.
The appearance and gestures of Nga and Chau are also very gentle. Parents soon realize that and often mold their two children to be more masculine and tougher. Outsiders are not so tolerant. They called Chau and Nga "faggots", "shadows", and even forbade their children to play with them for fear of "contagion".
The Chau sisters' journey to "coming out" was not easy. Ivory was the first to go public. She confidently grows her hair long, wears girl's clothes, applies lipstick, and wears high heels.
Along with the happiness of living according to one's true gender comes physical and mental pain. Chau witnessed her sister endure countless beatings from her father, and her mother's tears of both pity and anger at her child.
Unable to bear it, Nga left to follow a theater troupe, wandering here and there, doing various jobs to make a living. Feeling so sorry for their child, a few years later, Ivory's parents went looking for their child and advised him to return home.
A few years later, it was Chau's turn to " come out". Chau's parents were not as shocked as the first time but were still in pain. Chau admitted that her journey to "coming out" was not as intense as her sister's.
"No one wants to fall into the life of a caterpillar and a butterfly, but we have to accept it because we were born like that," Chau sadly said. The only thing Chau and Ms. Hai can do is fight against fate and live true to their gender.
Chau "came out" later but became transgender first. She does business so she can save money faster and soon have money to transition.
One afternoon in 2015, on a motorbike, Chau's father took Chau to the airport to go to Thailand for surgery. Chau looked at her father standing silently at the airport security gate, watching her son enter the waiting room, and her heart sank.
In 2018, in the same car, my father once again took Nga to the airport. Both times he sent his son off to undergo transgender change, the old father shed tears.
Successful gender reassignment surgery, Nga and Chau both returned to the loving arms of their family. During the post-operative period, the two sisters received dedicated care from their parents. Mother helps her two daughters clean their wounds, father cooks nutritious meals for them to nourish. On the day they went to have their stitches removed, Chau and her sisters were also driven by their father.
"My sister and I both love and appreciate our parents. Without their parents' tolerance, our journey to finding our true gender could not be complete," Chau said.
During the years of struggling with the pain of being "wronged by her mother", Chau understood that the more she suffered, the more her parents felt sorry for her. Chau has heard people slandering her parents as "unlucky people" and "lost family"... Chau has also seen her parents sitting in a daze in front of a photo of their two young sons.
But now, Chau's parents have completely overcome that difficult time. The only thing they care about is their child's health, not how they live.
"My parents always told me and Hai that the most important thing is to live well and be kind. Health is more important than beauty, you just need to be healthy, not too beautiful," Chau confided.
Currently, Nga works in a theater company, while Chau runs a restaurant business. The Chau sisters not only live their lives well but also take good care of their parents.
On days when her mother had to go to the hospital, Chau and her sisters took turns taking care of her. Every day, the two sisters also take care of their parents to have a full life, no longer struggling to make a living.
Even though they cannot give birth to children, the Chau sisters still fulfill their duties as children by taking good care of their parents.
