On the evening of May 20, at an apartment building in Hanoi, an incident involving the family of famous TikToker "PTTC" with more than 400,000 followers on social media attracted strong public attention when the father of this family suddenly blocked the elevator and yelled at Ms. Linh Do, a resident living in the same apartment building.
He accused Ms. Linh of picking up the AirPods that his daughter dropped and asked her to return them. However, it is worth noting that the man did not have any concrete evidence, nor did he clearly confirm whether Ms. Linh picked up the headphones or not.
The video recording the tense moment in the elevator was quickly shared widely on social media platforms on May 22, causing a wave of backlash. Many people expressed outrage at the manâs allegedly imposition and unverified behavior, as well as his lack of respect for Ms. Linhâs personal rights. The incident not only attracted the attention of residents in the apartment building but also became a hot topic of discussion on many major forums.
On May 21, after clearly verifying that Ms. Linh did not keep the headphones, the TikToker's family proactively met with the couple to apologize and hope to reconcile and resolve the matter peacefully. The meeting took place in a peaceful atmosphere, as both sides agreed to let it go and not want to prolong the argument. Ms. Linh also posted in the resident group, announcing that she had received an apology from the TikToker's family and hoped that everyone would close the story, avoiding affecting the lives of both families.
However, the wave of criticism has not subsided. In the viral videos, many social media users are still angry and indignant at the TikToker family's behavior, even calling for a boycott because they believe they have shown a disrespectful attitude towards others, causing pain to Ms. Linh and her family.
Not stopping there, on the morning of May 22, the man in the TikToker's family continued to call Ms. Linh, expressing his anger because he thought she did not speak up to clarify that he and his wife were not the ones who stole the headphones. He affirmed that her failure to refute the information had damaged his family's reputation. This call made the situation more tense and increased Ms. Linh's discomfort.
After many days of silence to maintain peace, Ms. Linh Do, the person involved, finally officially spoke up. She expressed deep indignation at the unfriendly attitude and behavior of the TikToker's family. Ms. Linh said that she had proactively cooperated, was willing to let everything go to avoid making a big deal out of it, and even called on netizens to stop criticizing the other side after the reconciliation session. However, what she could not accept was that after the TikToker's family received a strong reaction from the online community, they turned around and blamed her for not correcting that their family was falsely accused of theft, causing damage to their reputation.
"When we met to discuss, I wholeheartedly supported them and even proactively commented on their posts, hoping for the community's forgiveness. However, after being criticized, they called to blame me for not standing up to protect them. I couldn't bear it any longer and decided to ask the law to intervene," Linh shared.
Looking back at the incident in the elevator, Ms. Linh could not hide her indignation. She emphasized that the headphones had been missing for two days, but the TikToker's family did not immediately report it to check the security camera, but only relied on the location and then blocked her in the elevator, questioning and threatening her without clearly verifying. "They acted like they were catching a thief, not looking for lost items," she said with an indignant attitude.
Early in the morning of May 23, the TikToker's family posted a clip apologizing to the online community, in which the daughter explained that the incident originated from her father's hasty holding of the elevator to ask people, leading to an unnecessary misunderstanding. However, for Ms. Linh, this apology was not really for her family who were directly hurt, but was just a move to appease public opinion.
Currently, Ms. Linh is working with a lawyer to collect the necessary evidence to complete the file and officially sue the TikToker's family to protect her honor and rights.
